This is a lovely little town and this square is very beautiful. The street art is in the form of bronze sculptures inviting you to participate. For instance three buxom ladies sitting on chairs deep in conversation - and one spare chair for you to take and join in.

This is one of the quieter plazas in Camaguey. The crowds are sparse and you can get a photo of the church without people everywhere. There are also 2 restaurants and an art gallery. It's really charming and peaceful

Camaguey is Cuba without the huge tourist crowds of Havana. A winner, full of charm and friendly people.

The gallery for Martha Jiminez is in this plaza, as well as some of her bronze works. Good place for photo opps. A couple of restaurants as well. Did not have a tour guide but our Cuban friends explained a few of the details. Great late afternoon walk.

The plaza is very clean and tidy. We enjoyed the sculptures and the Martha Jimenez gallery. There were quite a few jineteros hanging around so be wary of anyone being overly friendly or trying to sell you something.

It's right on General Gomezz within walking distance of the city center (Plaza de los Trabajadores) down cobbled, narrow, winding residential streets. The colonial era buildings have been restored and are very nice and so is the church, my favorite of all Camagüey's temples. There are several, very realistic, bronze sculptures of people, a man hauling jars and several more... More

The Plaza del Carmen is filled with the bronze sculptures of Martha Jimenez, and sometimes the man who posed for one of them. You can visit her gallery and view her paintings too. Here I bought my only souvenir of our tour of Cuba. Martha specialises in females. Her work is very unusual and a 'must see'. The square also... More

If you are in Camaguey, you must see the Plaza Del Carmen and the beautiful cathedral. There is also an art gallery and a fine little restaurant where you can quaff a cold Crystal with an order of platanos fritos. The plaza is very picturesque and was empty of many tourists when we visited.

At one end is the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen (impressive church of Our Lady of Carmen), presiding over a cobbled walking street with life-sized sculpture of locals going about their life - a man ferrying tinajones (pots filled with water) and women chatting. Much quieter than the other plazas and churches around this city.
