Beautifully restored, beautiful views, worth the trip... This is a taxi ride out of town, but if you get the timings right you can get a water taxi back to Santiago for one CUC... Plan to spent two hours, the story is not well told, but that just leave it up to you to imagine how it used to be...... More

This place is like entering the fantastic world of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie. A place full of history and strange charm. Spectacular views from its terraces!

To be fair, we never entered EL Morro, but we visited the El Morro restaurant and walked the sea path and stopped at the multiple vendors leading up to the fort. Sea views were incredible both from the restaurant, and the path. Vendors were reasonable and friendly-- willing to bargain--and were among the only shopping we could find n Santiago,... More

But being Welsh I really like castles . Fabulous views. As at other attractions you are supposed to pay to use your camera (our guide advised leaving ours in the bus) but guides postively encouraged mobile phone pics... THere are some souvenir stals as you approach but they are not insistent

This is a lovely fort with lots of history regarding Pirates and Buccaneers. A map inside shows the various sites from which they came under attack. Probably the most famous Pirate to attack was Captain Henry Morgan..... or as the British know him - Johnny Depp !!! There are stunning views and as you approach there is a craft market... More

It is and historical and cultural place, located at the entrance of the Santiago de Cuba Bay. There are many hidden stories about Spanish Colonial story in Cuba. Nice souvenirs to buy. A good restaurant that was visited and had lunch Paul Mc Cartney. Entrance to the historic fortress is at 5 Cuc per pax, it is OK.

I enjoyed looking around the castle and hearing about its history of buccaneers and others who came to the island. The spectacular views added to the interest of this historic castle.

It was a nice castle but not as extensive as ones I've been to. It's worth a visit if you're in the area.

One of my '1,001 buildings you must see before you die', this historical fort enjoys a fantastic setting over the Caribbean Sea. The exhibits are nothing special; it's more interesting to explore this robust structure built into the cliff face. I walked all the way down to the sea, from where you can see the impressive scale of the fort... More

This is more than a castle. It was used for fortification for the area. Very large imposing fort. You can wander in all the rooms, go down the lowest level to view the sea walls. Nothing was off limits. There are lots of climbing is you go to the sea walls. We did not. The view from the castle/fort is... More
