Among the attraction

Beautiful architecture like all of Curacao boats. Also in the heart of the attractions. Was not able to truly indulge as I was on a tour and we only passed by.

The Scharloo area is a pretty rough neighbourhood to go through, so I wouldn't recommend going there by foot as a tourist. Driving through there everyone notices you, so I would recommend going there with a few or even a group. Especially if you want to go and explore some of the beautiful buildings that are now abandoned/empty. I definitely... More

We walked around Scharloo before heading to the airport on our last day. Colorful peaceful neighborhood. Children were just returning from school and family life was in full swing. Very pleasant glimpse of Caribbean Island life.

Took a walk to see the restored buildings, but the ones we saw were not labeled with names to inform us what they once were. Spend your time at the beach.

No reason to go here unless there's something specific you want to see. Pretty architecture along with chickens scratching in yards and buildings that have been boarded up with trees growing though the roof.

This is a small area with many colourful restored houses and the best to see it way is to just walk the streets and soak in the culture. There were some better restaurants in this area but they were not that easy to find.

As soon as I saw it from a tour bus real quick, I thought I must go back to explore this small four or so street area by Punda, Curacao. So I walked across a small bridge near the fruit market,(floating market) and wow, small homes in all pastels, with wrought iron doors, and louvered windows! Bachata music greeted me from one... More

Sometimes parts of an old town are just nice to go to, but Scharloo has this special "aahhh"-moment you so need during your stay.......This old Jewish part of town takes you far back in time and shows you the beauty of old architecture and Caribbean life style. Simply breathtaking.......

I just can't get enough of these wonderfully restored buildings and homes! Do the walking tour yourself with the free Willemstad city guide you can pickup at the Curaçao tourism building...the 17 buildings are worth the walk

We didn't spend much time in Scharloo, but the it was close to Punda and home to many inexpensive guesthouses. The reason for our visit was the cute little Money Museum, which had everything used as currency on Curacao, from pre-colonial shell currency, to colonial coins (whole and cut into smaller denominations), to modern coins and commemoratives, with the dies...
