It is a beautiful lake but there are other areas in Dominica that are more stunning and more unique to a rainforest island. You can drive right to the edge of the lake which would make it a nice starting point for a hike around or maybe to Boeri lake.

We went on this hike today, April 2, and it was not what we expected! The path around the lake is a moderate level hike, we expected it to be a nice walk around the edge of the lake but you end up climbing 3 of the smaller mountains! It had amazing views at the top and even though the... More

Nice views but nothing better than other spots on the island. The drive up has nice scenery and views as well. The lake was freezing! But we went in anyway. Be sure to bring a towel!

This is a pretty walk. I rated this average, but it has nothing at all to do with the lake or the path around it! Rather, it has to do with the bizarre behaviour of the park staff. My sister and I visited the Island for the purpose of hiking. We were self-guided and rented a car. Finding the location... More

I enjoyed going to this lake.. on your way you get to see other little sites and when you get there you could do some canoe-ing on the water..

I have never experienced anything quite like this. The breeze was very strong and the outside temperature was 19 degrees. The kayaking was closed that day because of the strong breeze and the clouds kept coming down and hiding the entire lake at intervals. When the breeze blew again it would totally clear it up and it was a great... More

The clouds were low over the lake, obscuring the mountains in the background. Mist drifted by and created some very surreal effects. It reminded us of the series "Lost". This was a fun photo shoot.

For travellers from overseas this is just a lake that we can see anytime in our countries! The information center by the lake was quite interesting and was worthwhile taking a look at!

We walked around Freshwater Lake on a drizzly afternoon. That may have been a not so great idea as some areas along the trail were extremely slippery mud and very steep. We just laughed about getting all muddy though and had a fantastic time anyhow! Part of the trail is very easy, but other parts are very steep. I would... More
