For the second time, i climbed Pico Duarte. The experience was amazing because I was guided for the same guides i used on the first trip, Guias de Alturas. They are very kind, humble and pay attention to every detail. This one was a very...More

So it all started when I asked God to give me a sign and guidance in life. And then my friend called me and asked if I wanted to go with a group of 4 on the top of Pico Duarte. I was hesitating at...More

After thinking and dreaming about it for the past 6 years I finally decided to put my plans in action. Pico Duarte is the highest mountain in all of the Caribbean Islands, and it is located in the central portion of the mountain range known...More

This baby had been on our list for a while. Known as the highest mountain in the Caribbean it's definitely worth the lengthy hike. Watch out for the last 4km. They will appear harder than you think! ;)

Yeap, doesn't matter which way you take, climbing to the Caribean ceiling is long and phisycal demanding. Is an amazing trail, with beatifull views overlooking highest mountains of the Caribbean. I had only 2 days, so I started from La Cienaga and instead of the...More

Duarte's Peak in the Dominican Republic is a challenge. Mind and body connect with nature in the most serene isolation from the citadine noises and its familial loudness. I arrived to Santiago de los Caballeros airport from Miami and stayed one night at the Hodelpa...More

Hey Folks, Do you get any water to clean up and freshen up before going to sleep on the 2 night 3 day hike? I am very curious to know if I have to go 3 days without a shower.

Hi Ronniehos, at La Compartición, where you are going to sleep, there is a small creek nearby, just 5min walking. They will provide you with a basket to pick some water and get a shower. Mind you, the water is cold as... More

Hi there everyone. We are a party of 3 going over to Puerto Plata this August and since it's our first time in the Dominican republic, we don't really know how to go about organising our Pico Duarte hike. We are thinking about the Valle Del Tetero route over 3 days but I wanted to ask how do we go about getting from Puerto Plata to La Cienaga and also if anyone knows a guide who speaks English (hopefully with a number for us to call)? We don't want to go on an organised tour as it gets rid of a lot of the excitement I guess but more importantly most guided tours are about $400 per person which is a lot for us... Please let us know if you can help by giving us some form of contact to a local guide. Thanks in advance!
