The immaculately maintained fort, gardens, and museum allows visitors a view of early French colonial history on the island. The views onto the harbor below and across to Guadaloupe were spectacular. All the exhibit descriptions were in French, and the English pamphlet only described the...More

Driving ourselves across Belgium gave us the opportunity to stop off at random places. This was recommended by a local bar owner for its military history. Being former military with military families we went straight away. Great old Fort with a lot of history. Cool...More

We went by mini-bus up a precipitous road to the top of the 150 metre high hill at the West end of the island and explored the 150 year old Fort Napoleon. This is a large very well restored structure that contains an excellent museum...More

Fort Napoleon is the main place to visit on Les Saintes - a must-see according to the guidebooks - though I'm not really sure it deserves THAT much credit. Sure, it's a nice little fort, with some naval battle history attached to it. Sure, there...More

It is about a 20 min walk steep uphill, but nice views along the way. Entry is 5 euro, and they have toilets. Interesting museum with many exhibits, mostly with French explanations.

The fort is intact and has been turned into a museum, each room with items from a different theme such as art, fish, battles, boatbuilding, wildlife. Outside is a botanic garden. Take the mini-bus and you will get an hour here, which is enough.

It is quite an uphill walk from the ferry dock to the fort but it was definitely worth it! The views are amazing and the fort was pretty and interesting too. It closes around 11 or 12 so be sure to go in the morning...More

The walk up to Fort Napoleon from the main street isn't too far (about 10 minutes), but the climb does get a little steep. However, once you reach the top, you'll be rewarded with magnificent views of the water. There's a small museum inside the...More
