Established forty years ago, Rafting on the Martha Brae boasts a complement of eighty five licensed and experienced raft captains. Thirty-foot long bamboo rafts are boarded from a concrete pier, under the supervision of a licensed dispatcher.

The raft ride is operated over a three mile stretch of the beautiful Martha Brae river and lasts approximately one hour. Once on the raft, guests can learn about “The Legend of Martha Brae” or enjoy an exhilarating swim. The attraction has over the years played host to a number of celebrities including HRH Queen Elizabeth II, heavy weight champion Lennox Lewis, Chuck Norris, Dionne Warwick, Spike Lee, former NBA star Patrick Ewing, Jane Seymour of “Doctor Quinn- Medicine Woman” fame, Kenny Rodgers, the late Johnny cash and world 100 meter champion Usain Bolt.

Beautiful View. I recommend going to Cafe Blue a cafe and motel. Also Strawberry Hill is really nice for lunch. It is so much fun. If you go to Blue Cafe you should take a walk down to the river.

After 300+ trips to Jamaica´s Highest Point, I would say that it is a must-do once in Jamaica. 8-9 hour return hike is best done as an overnight. It is best done as an overnight experience with my favourite lodge being at Whitfield Hall. This is a 200+-year-old Coffee overseer´s mansion, befitting of the heritage story of the area. 5 hours of return drive from the capital, Kingston and 9 hours return hike is what you should plan for. Best to organise a one shop effort with a professional local tour company, that will provide all the component inputs.

Visited the Blue Mountains as part of a trip over to Kingston. As you expect a lot of sharp turns with sheer drops, not for the faint hearted in places 😁😁😁 Great views over Kingston and opportunities for photos

One of us had trained for the Jamaica Defense Force while the other had heard all of the stories about the narrow winding roads, the cool temperatures, the lush jungle, and of course, the stories of an 18 year old private and his first days from home. This was a visit coming for the past 40 years, but always delayed. It was a moving experience to watch the septuagenarian relive the start of his 20 year military career at a base founded n 1841 by the British. Little did they know their escape from yellow fever would be coming up on its 200th anniversary. Be sure to check out the museum on the base. We passed the small towns of Redlight and Irish Town as we traveled the curvy road back to Kingston. We were able to see all the way into the waters of Kingston Harbor from the winding road. Great day!

The trip up the mountain was a little hair-raising due to the narrow, winding road. But, once up the mountain the view of the island was simply wonderful
