Not what I would call "fun."

The crafts are pretty much the same in every stall and the same as you might see at your resort if they have a day where they allow craftspeople to come in and set up. The prices... read more

Although we had been warned about the traders in the crafts market we visited and spent about an hour there. If you can cope with the pushy stall holders and be determined to buy what you go there for you will be able to pick up a some beautiful things - but you must bargain hard with the traders.

Once you arrive at the Hip strip you have to walk out of it pass margaretaville where u see a view of the ocean, keep walking and you come to a park. Walk through the park and walk a little further and on your left up a hill are the market stalls. The stalls sell a lot of the same... More

The crafts are pretty much the same in every stall and the same as you might see at your resort if they have a day where they allow craftspeople to come in and set up. The prices were competitive but not bargains, even after haggling. I got the same prices for the same products at the resort craft day and... More

A good place to find locally crafted souvenirs, but a bad place to bring a family. The shopkeepers are aggressive and will physically block the exit once you are in the store, verbally trying to sell you useless items for high prices. My fiancée found this environment uncomfortable and we did not enjoy it as much as we thought. I... More

If you enjoy bartering for a bargain this is the place for you. We were there early on a Tue. morning and were the only ones in the place. We were greeted by just about all of the people selling items. We had a great time bidding on items and buying. I was looking for for a Jamaican knitted shoulder... More

Okay so we go to Jamaica almost every year. And the craft market is always on our list of things to do. We make a list of people we are buying for and set a budget. Buying at the craft market things to know 1. is the money is going back to locals. In away it is like thanking Jamaica.... More

This review and listing is for the old fort craft market. It's a ramshackle assortment of small hut shops arranged up the side of a hill. It's slow this time of year which is the downside since at one point we were the only customers in the whole place. The shop owners are aggresive in asking you to visit their... More

We visited the market during an outing from our resort. Prepare for mildy aggressive selling tactics. I'm sure we over pod for everything, but my children loved the conch shell and carved turtles, and the personalized fans were appreciated by the mothers. Reality is: you can buy most of this at the airport. But I did enjoy chatting with a... More

There were alot of shops and the people were friendly and a little pushy but no one ever was upset when we didn't buy anything. They were just happy people. And they expect you to ask for lower. They told me that.
