We started our self guided walking tour of Old San Juan by walking through the gate. What a lovely surprise to see it already decorated for the Christmas Holyday. It lead right to the beautiful fountain and the walkway goes either into Old San Juan or up to the fort.

We went for a week in October to San Juan and experienced more of what the island has to offer -and we were able to see so many sites this time - spent time at this gate as well - the walking around this historic area is wonderful - take time to see all you can

If you visit Old San Juan, San Juan Gate is a stop that you should do. Is a beautiful scenery and you can easily reach from the Fortaleza (Governor's Mansion) to El Paseo de la Princesa another great place to enjoy your visit.

Don't be fooled by the name, there is more to this than just the old city gate! Outside of the gate is a wonderful walking path that follows the historic city wall. Great opportunities for photos!

Visited the "ceremonial" gate. It was really great to see how VIP guests visited PR. They were greeted at the ceremonial gate. Must visit if walking Old San Juan.

We went to this historic site on a walking tour of Old San Juan. This is an impressive and historic structure. This is literally where travelers were admitted into the city of San Juan. When the doors are open and you look out from the inside, you are looking to the sea and that is where people came from to... More

It looks just like a gate, a big gate and in many respects it is just a gate. However what a history that gate has seen, all the important dignitaries that have passed through the gate after arriving from Spain. Walk through the gate and see the thickness of the walls that held back any potential invaders and you realise... More
