This hike was fairly quick and easy. It's a paved trail the entire way to the La Mina Falls. There were many informational signs along the way. It's very popular place to hike, so it can be difficult to find parking. I think you may need to stop at the visitors center to get a pass for the forest (cheap)... More

Confusing ride up to hike trail but trail is nicely paved, a bit tiring for someone out of shape but there are ups and downs so none of it is too terrible. La Mina is beautiful, I would suggest going earlier than we did. We got there at 10:30 and there were college kids all being loud and annoying in... More

Hard walk. 30-35 min one way. Steep ups and downs. Full photo View of falls blocked by crowds posing for pics and climbing on rocks.

Big Tree, like the other trails in El Yunque is a really well maintained trail, and is great for novice hikers. It's a short hike to La Mina Falls, which is worth hanging out at and taking a swim!

A bus picked us up from our resort and drove us to the top of the trail. The weather was really nice. Not too humid or anything for being in a forest in Puerto Rico. We followed the trail down which led us to a waterfall that we could swim in. At the end, the bus picked us up and... More

A very pretty trail. The waterfall is very cold and refreshing to swim in at the end. Go early!!!! By the time we left the falls were very crowded. So pretty when few people and more quiet. The trail is pretty much paved or stone steps the whole way. It was pretty easy we felt. We wore tennis shoes but... More

This trail is very sloping in places and it would be a good idea to carry a rain poncho and wear clothes that are ok to get wet. There is a little concession stand at the entrance that had drinks, etc.

A nice hiking trail with cement steps and/or ramps leading to the fall as. Many areas also have hand rails and they have informational signs along the walk to lean about the birds, animals, insects and plant-life that grows in the El Yunque Rainforest.. with parking at both access pints and only a 1hr drive from San Juan, it's a... If you enjoy walking, this is the trail for you. However, you must walk back especially if you parked your car where you began the trail. Use your ears and eyes to see birds, snails and lizards.

Enter by the La Mina trail and exit the Big Tree Trail. It is all uphill from the falls, but not difficult and it is paved the whole way making it easy walking. Look for the huge trees along the way.
