The Schoelcher Library is an unique building. It was first built in France back in 1889, then shipped piece by piece to the island of Martinique! This is an exquisite monument to Victor Schoelcher, the 19th century French abolitionist writer.

The exterior architecture of this building is beautiful. We enjoyed the interior also as they had an artist displaying his artistic crafts. The librarian was very helpful even though her English was limited as we were looking for relatives who, were, from the island. She was able...More

Maybe I thought this island would be more. Library was ok. Not much to see it was only ok. We wouldn’t do it again

Impressive room. Feels and looks like one of those classical, stereotypical "old" libraries -- think the library from that Indiana Jones movie. Well worth the visit!

FDF landmark. Beautiful architecture and a must see if you happen to visit Fort de France old town. It served as a refuge from rain for us but very interesting outside and inside

Called in here during our visit to Martinique on the cruise ship. It is very easy to find on the front as you walk from the cruise terminal. It is a fantastic old building and well worth a look inside at the architecture. Not really...More

Hi Chrisa, I presume there is a misunderstanding with the name of a beach Schoelcher and the library. Unfortunatelly I cannot help since I reviewed the Library.
