Be sure to stop by for tickets at the booth located at the Savane on the corner of Rue de la Liberte and Boulevard Alfassa. The cost is $10.00 per person, but well worth it. The guide was very knowledgeable and personable. He led us through the fort regaling us with anecdotes relating to the different areas, and also pointed... More

A colonial fort in the Caribbean is always worth visiting, it's almost always a trip in time. This one however, requires a bit of ingenuity just to get in. Ft. St. Louis is STILL an active French naval base, however you CAN get in if you buy tickets at the tourist office in La Savane. Tours depend on almost everything... More

Contrary to several previous reviews, my personal experience is that you can gain entry to this historically important landmark. But you need to buy a ticket from the tourist office located in the southwest corner of the nearby park, La Savane. It is a small kiosk near the intersection of rue de la Liberte and boulevard Alfassa. Behind dark probably... More

The fort juts out into the sea and looks amazing from far away with its fortifications and greenery, unfortunately that's all you'll get. The fort is an active military base and closed to the public. The view from the ferry to the anse à l'âne and the anse mitan is pretty cool too.

Don't try to get in as it is still an active French Military Base. You can walk around it and the views of Martinique are good from this part of the island but you'll be okay to just see what you can see from across the bay. We really didn't enjoy trying to talk with the locals around here because... More

We were on a Caribbean cruise and spent a Sunday in Martinique. We walked through the park (Park La Savane) along the shoreline leading up to Fort St Louis. We got a good look at the outside of the Fort from the outside - the high walls stretching on to the promontory. But unfortunately, we couldn't get in. There was... More

We could see the massive fort from the ship. As I got closer to the walls, it was quite an imposing structure. As I got around to the entrance, I could see some large anchors and canons displayed near the gate. Since we were visiting on Easter Sunday, it was closed due to the holiday. The Exterior is impressive; but... More

We had never been to Martinique, so we were looking forward to visiting. Unfortunately, our ship docked on a Sunday and none of the main shops or local tour providers were open. We could see a fort from our cruise ship, so we decided to explore. The problem was all the signs were written in French only! Not in English,... More

No way in. No signs. Closed. Just some piece of old walls and a blue closed gate. Dirty surrounding that makes the visit even more as waste of time.
