Castries market is busy and noisey. You can buy anything from live chicken or fresh fish to toilet paper and shoes. Taxi drivers continually asked us if we wanted a car. Older widowed women in groups are offered marriage by local men who just want...More

If you wish to go to an island and stick on your resort then don’t follow my reviews. I have nothing against the budget certainty of an all inclusive resort. But seriously you came to St Lucia for a reason. So it’s time to meet...More

Took a taxi into the castries from our hotel to visit the market. Great place to get souveniers. Nice to see a little bit of culture.

This market has everything you would expect. Lots of local produce, clothes, souvenirs etc. It is housed in two large buildings, one each side of the road, as well as spreading through the nearby streets.

We took a boat tour and walked around the market and shops. Many vendors selling similar items and many locals on the street and restaurants. Many are selling necklaces. Very neat buildings and colours with the mountains as a back drop. We ate at a...More

This is a typical Caribbean market; there is a wide variety from 'tat' to better quality items; you can haggle with the sellers.

Interesting visit in the market place in Castries. A lot of the same goods from booth to booth but every fourth or fifth vender would have something unique or local handcrafted items such as woven baskets or artwork. Great selection of spices and sauces made...More

Castries Market has two separate areas, one for souvenirs and another for meat, fruit, and vegetables. The souvenirs are very standard, and I have the identical bracelet from Jamaica, the only difference being the name of the country and the colors of the flag. The...More

This is a typical market place where all the vendors have basically the same thing. Interesting to look around, but I don't like the beggar style approach from the vendors. I know that this is probably their major or only source of income, but let...More

Great place to shop. Each stall has a lot of the same things. Get ready to haggle. It is expected. Don’t be a fool. Save those dollars. Much like the open market in the Bahamas. T-shirt’s are a little pricey magnets too.

It appears that there are at least two craft markets, both within 2-3 blocks of the cruise ship landings. On foot, the first is a city block of tasteful, single-story stuccoed, tile-roofed structures housing vendors--we did... More
