The hike half of the way is safe for most, but there are 3 hills that have to be navigated before getting to the top/destination that are boarder-line dangerous for the unfit. The walkways are narrow and on very steep drop-offs. Especially after a rain,...More

We (5 dads, 3 teenagers) went on this hike last week. We had all intentions of doing it self guided, but fortunately our cab driver, "Socrates", thought better of it and set us up with a local guide who met us at the rode leading...More

Did this hike with our family, including 2 teens, as part of a cruise ship tour. This is very strenuous, with some technical portions of the hike requiring scrambling over rocks, roots, mud. Warm and humid, but it does get cooler as you ascend. No...More

Took a tour here for a day trip in St. Kitts from the local port from a cruise. My boyfriend and I went, with a group of about 20-30 people. The tour guides drove us about 30 minutes to the location, which just looks like...More

We booked the hike through our cruise. The description was strenuous and they weren't kidding. Narrow parts and often slippery. The tour we booked through provided hiking sticks which were so helpful. Stunning areas along the hike - the summit is small but the view...More

Got to see this amazing view from Brimstone Hill Fortress. Wish we had time to hike it and descend into the volcano as there are guided hikes available. But we had only one day from cruise ship to explore. Understand it would be a long...More

We wanted to go on our own pace so we found a driver (Dr. Elvis - you can ask around), and he arranged for us Kalvin - a local guy who knows every spot on the mountain. Was great. Took us close to 2 hours...More

Strenuous hike scrambling through a rain forest with stupendous views the top. Very helpful to have a guide: O'Neil Mulraine is a fantastic guide. You need to be fit for this; wear proper footwear (at the least, good athletic shoes) and take water and snacks....More

No they did not take us to actual highest point. We just went to the crater rim
Qtpie, your post totally contradicts your initial comment about your adventuras side. Tables, bathrooms. It's outdoor hiking. Not a stair climber at your local gym. Your post is embarrassing.

Is the trail marked enough to do it without a guide? I've done plenty of climbing in the past, so not worried about physical fitness at all. Just don't want to have to have a tour guide or be in a slow group.
