We were eaten alive by mosquitoes and no seeums and the walk out was horrendous only for young very fit people. We only just made it. No facilities, nothing.

This is a long, hot and boring hike through a residential community to a beach covered in stones and rocks. There are many beautiful, easily accessible beaches on St Thomas, don't waste your time with this. The hike out, up hill is ghastly

I don't think I would've ever known how to do this if not for Trip Adivsor posts. We showed to the gate of the community you have to walk through, and the security guard was helpful advising us where to park (on the street). Don't...More

I've only been there by boat, but I understand it is accessible by a long walk as well. I don't know that I would make that trek, but it is easy to reach by boat, if you know where to go. Been there several times...More

St. Thomas has a lot of nice attractions but Mermaids Chair is the most incredible place on the island.

The beach is beautiful but as others have said it is such a long, long walk back up to the gate. Walking down is hard enough in the heat, carrying everything you need (there really is nothing there) but the return is something else. No...More

The guard "warns" you of the 1.5 mile walk but it was an intense walk in the hot sun. The walk is on a paved sidewalk and road but the hills are the killers. Once you arrive it is worth it. It's amazing. We were...More

We found out about this from our waiter one evening. Glad we did it. It is a tough walk, steep and hot, if you have physical problems. About 1.5 miles in and 1.5 miles out. Mostly hilly and paved. Very cool area where the Caribbean...More

This was an absolutely gorgeous spot that we found at the end of our trip to St Thomas. It wasn't in any of our guidebooks and we wouldn't have known about it if not for a tip from a local. It is well worth the...More

Awesome hike! Walk up is tough so be prepared. Beautiful scenery not a ton of beach but it's not a top beach it's where the Atlantic and carribean meet. Tons of cool rock formations! Beautiful!

Hi Betty, Months later I am now just seeing this. I hope you went and if so you enjoyed it! I did not do any snorkeling. When I first went to Mermaids Chair it was really unknown, private, FULL of beautiful washed up dead... More
