Fort Christian is a landmark along the cruise ship dock that begins the downtown shopping area. We took photos of the outside as the interior has been closed for 14 years except for local events. An interesting historic attraction that protected the island from pirates and bucaneers.

This is a amazing and well preserved Fort. You have to walk through the dungeons and feel what it must have been like. In the courtyard look for the skull and cross bones on the ground. We were told pirates were buried there.? But fun to find.

Not far from the shopping district. Helps tell some of the history of the island. If you enjoy history it is worth a visit.

Take a few moments to view the oldest structure in Charlotte Amalie. The fort is not open for reviews and there is no historical information on site. It is under renovation with no date when or if it will be open to the public. Do not consider a visit to this site as central to your trip. Parking and traffic... More

The fort exterior is very cool and is in a great location. It is well-maintained and picturesque. I wish it was open for tours!

We could only walk passed this outside. It seems like they are getting ready for some needed renovations / updates. It was cool to see from outside, but it was gated off and lots of bricks sitting behind the chain link fence. It really looks like it needs repair from the outside.

It was closed when we visited in late November so was not able to see the site. But looking from the outside, it was very impressive. Read about it before we got to Charlotte Amalie so it would have been nice to have seen the site in its entirety.

It really needs some tender, loving care. I understand they will be refurbishing it, I hope so. They need to preserve their history.

Ft. Christian is part of a walking in Charlotte Amalie, be sure to bring plenty water and be in decent shape, as there are many hills to climb.
