My friend recommended we attend Frederick Lutheran on Sunday morning. The historic church is beautiful inside with inlay work hovering above the pulpit, "perfect posture" pews, and images of a dark-skinned island Jesus. It was a blessing to see a congregation of mixed cultures and skin tones. If only this beautiful diversity composed more faith gatherings. They served Communion and... More

Shuttered up and locked gate. Would have liked to have gone in. I was able to take pictures thru the gate.

We did a tour on our own and was amazed with the architecture of the 300 year old church. The wooden rafters were really amazing.

As a Historian, it was imperative for me to take the opportunity to see this historic church. I LOVE the fact that the church was open and available to take it personally. I only wish there was a tour guide or a booklet that gave you a bit more personal information about the church.

They were celebrating their 350th anniversary while my husband and I were visiting. We visited on a Saturday (best to visit on the weekend), so no services being held, but the church was open to visitors and we signed their guestbook. We loved walking through the oldest church building on St. Thomas and 350 years of history!! My husband is... More

We spent a few minutes walking around the church one afternoon to get out of the summer heat. It is a beautiful church from the outside. Also it is clear it used to be a magnificent place inside years ago. The interior now needs some TLC (and a good cleaning). However, if you want to see a building with interesting... More

We celebrated 23 years of marriage yesterday, and it all began here! We had a destination wedding from Texas. This was the second stop on our cruise, and we arranged to be married here and had the reception on the ship with our 50 guests. It was the hottest day ever, and of course this old historic church has no air... More

Georgian in style, it was built in the 1780's, and has been rebuilt several times, resulting in the addition of its Gothic Revival trim. I didn't have a chance to go in cause there was a service in progress. From the outside.. She is beautiful! Worth checking out if you're touring Charlotte Amalie.
