A nice short ride

20 or so minutes on the ferry will move you between St Thomas and St John. Its an enjoyable, scenic ride. You can go topside for a better view

The ferry leaves every hour on the hour from Red Hook to Cruz Bay and it's pretty reliable. $7 per passenger one way for tourists. Additional if you have suitcases etc. You can carry knapsacks, hand bags etc. for free. Give yourself some time (10-15 mins) before the scheduled departure time since the line to buy tickets can get long... More

Took ferry from Red Hook, St. Thomas to St. John. $7.00 per person plus $4.00 a bag. Clean big ferry which runs on the hour all day. Dependable, on time. They load and unload your bags.

The ferry is the main transport on and off St. John. Ran to schedule. Boats are old and noisy. Luggage handling is pretty rough, so keep any breakables with you.

There's nothing spectacular about the ferry. It is what it is and serves its purpose. I think the bag fees are a little steep but again, it is what it is.

Quick way to get to St. John from St. Thomas. Staff helps to guide you onto the car ferry. Be forewarned that you have to back onto the ferry. Usually takes about 30 minutes. Give yourself enough time when you have a flight to catch especially on weekends.

It runs hourly until 10PM, I believe and seemed to be very prompt. It seems to hold a lot of people and luggage and is very reasonable. I paid $7 for me and $4 for one large bag. I took the 8 PM and sat on the upper deck under the stars. It was lovely.

General ferry rules: they're a little unpredictable, as they may fill up and leave early when you don't expect it or leave a little late waiting for more people to arrive, but give yourself a small amount of wiggle room and you'll be fine. Its just a short distance between the islands, you'll get where you're going.

Red Hook Ferry to St John is very dependable and right on time. Crew does a good job to taking your luggage and the view from the upper deck is just awesome.

We took the ferry crossing to get to Trunk Bay on St. John. The ferry was nice and easy, I feel a bit over priced but it is easy to use. We loved Trunk Bay and VI SNUBA. Would love to spend more time there.
