The Ardastra Gardens, Zoo & Conservation Centre is a peaceful 80 year-old retreat spread over 4 acres of lush tropical gardens. It is a boutique zoo that specializes in bird rescue & rehabilitation, education, preservation of history and conservation of natural resources. Ardastra is home to many native species of plants and animals - including the Bahamas National Bird, the beautiful and exotic Caribbean Flamingo. We are well-known for our animal encounters that allow visitors to get "up close "with some of our residents. We encourage all of our visitors to take a guided tour for a better appreciation of our residents and our property. To maximize enjoyment, we also encourage our guests to schedule their visits around our Signature Showtimes: 10:30am, 1:30pm or 3:30pm. You can participate in the "Flamingo Experience", a unique show of the glory and antics of these incredible creatures together with an excellent narration of their story. Guests can also hand-feed the colourful and playful South Pacific Lory Parrots and have numerous photographic opportunities during your visit. While walking the Gardens, friendly and informed staff will answer questions while two-legged feathered friends will freely entertain. Light refreshments are available at the "Parrot Pit Stop". "Toby's Treasures" is filled with gifts/souvenirs so that you can take a piece of Ardastra home with you.

Very small zoo (1-2 hours max), but fun for my elementary age children. Known for their "March of the Flamingos", that happens 3 times/day. A pretty & lushly vegetated pathway leads you in a circle where various birds, reptiles, and a few small mammals are...More

My husband and I were on a cruise with a stop in Nassau. We don't do the beach, had been to Atlantis, so were looking for "something" to do off the ship. We decided on Ardastra Gardens & Zoo. Based on the reviews I had...More

OK, so this isn’t a big zoological garden. It’s not a whole day trip for anyone - a few hours at most. And most of the animals are not even from New Providence Island, as the native species were hunted or captured to extinction long...More

We visited in February, and there wasn't much going on in the garden sections. The animal cages were clean, as were all the grounds. The flamingo show was a bit disappointing- all they did was herd in one direction and then the reverse. Feeding the...More

There was a few animals, nothing very spectacular.. Monkeys, birds, and beautiful flamingos!! We took the bus to the Fish Fry and walked up. Signs could be better. Grounds were kept up nicely.

TERRIBLE conditions for the solitary Capuchin monkey and the solitary Ring-tailed Lemur. These animals should not be there. Primates are social animals and need companions. They should be given to a zoo that can give them better care. The Capuchin looked very sad. The Lemur...More

My grown daughter and I went to the gardens today and it was great. A small little wonder, with plenty of interesting animals and things happening. We walked around the caged animals and saw everything from your regular barn yard critters to monkeys and lizards....More

We have been coming to the Bahamas for 5 years now and never knew about this place. It’s such a nice little zoo and it has a great Flamingo show as well. If you have kids or even want to do something a little Different...More

Small zoo and garden with a surprising collection of animals, most nicely housed, some free. And those pelicans! Fun to walk among them, watch their polite behavior.

We took a cab from Atlantis to the zoo. About $18. Admission to the zoo is $18 per person. Staff at the zoo are extremely friendly and the exhibits are well done. The Flamingo parade is worth the price of admission. The birds there are...More

It depends on your pace. You can see everything in 45 minutes, maybe less including the Marching Flamingo Spectacular Show. On the other hand, if you want to get to know the flora and fauna, browse the souvenir show, plan on... More
