A unique 16th century turreted castle in the Scottish Borders offering castle tours and use of the grounds and children's play area. Thirlestane Castle is now closed for the winter season. Our open dates for 2018 are Sunday - Thursday from 30 April - 30 September from 10am to 4pm. Thirlestane can also be used for weddings and events, along with holiday lets through use of the castle's luxury Lauderdale Apartment.

Complete waste of money. Have been to many stately homes and castles and this particular one does not touch most. Don't waste your time, money or energy visiting this one.More

The finest castle I have visited; wonderful collection of family portraits and a real insight into what it must have been like living and working in a castle from the 16th / 17th century to present day. Also very child friendly. Great day out.

Enjoyed our visit to the castle & grounds. All the staff were friendly, approachable and had a good overall knowledge. Some beautiful rooms and interesting items. The ceilings were breathtaking. Also visited the tea room which offered homemade food. Overall a very enjoyable day out....More

This is such a beautiful castle, really close to the little town of Lauder but you wouldn't know it was there! There are beautiful state rooms in the oldest part of the castle and then you move through to the Children's nurseries - amazing dolls...More

Yes there is plenty of parking for your motorhome while you visit the castle. There is also our Caravan Park if you would like to stay longer.
