Dirleton Castle and gardens was a lovely stop on our weekend of Scottish castles to explore. Easy access using Lothian bus 124 that took us right from downtown Edinburgh to the front door of Direlton Caste (an enjoyable 1 hour bus ride). Dirleton village also...More

The staff at Tantallon suggested a visit to this castle since it was so close and we were using an explorer pass. The grounds are well kept and very pretty. The castle ruins were interesting as well. Very nice visit.

I was surprised and delighted at how interesting it was. Access to all the ruins was extensive. And the herbaceous border was beautiful- then there was the formal garden - so colourful. Staff were very friendly - I'll be visiting again.

My favorite castle we visited during our two week trip of Scotland! Absolutely beautifully gardens & grounds. Enjoyed having free rein of the ruins and loved the artist renditions of what each area would have looked like during its prime. Wonderful visit!

This is another castle that you need to see if you are in the North Berwick/East Lothian area. Great setting and well worth the time. Plan to spend about an hour here.

Visited Dirleton (again) on a visit to the famous Open Arms Hotel. There is something seriously awesome about a structure built to protect and defend Scottish nobility of the time which is still recognisable today. Feel the chill from the curtain wall and imagine the...More
