I am a single mom and my six yr old son had never caught a fish before we booked this trip. Marvin was AMAZING with him! Not only did he catch his first fish and many more, but he also caught a shark! This trip was more than just a day adventure for us. Marvin had my son on his shoulders and was joking and singing and made us feel so comfortable. Marvin exceeded every wildest hope we had and I highly recommend him!

Wow!! What a trip. We had one of the best days of our lives. Thanks to Marvin, the guy is a dude. We are a family of 4 and loved every minute. From swimming with sharks, pigs, to picking up massive star fish , to snorkelling down to a ship wrecked plane . The sand banks are truly stunning. The boat trip alone is simply amazing, the colours of the water will blow your mind. Marvin is such a nice guy and makes the trip really fun. We can’t wait to go back and do it all again.

This review is long overdue and my apologies to Captain Marvin for posting it so late. If I could give Big "V" Adventures a 10 out of 10 star rating I would. Exploring Long Island was truly AMAZING and was the highlight of our trip. Captain Marvin and his son Brandon were truly wonderful hosts and made us feel like family. They are so warm and welcoming and their knowledge and stories of the area are unsurpassed. Marvin and Brandon customized our trip but also made suggestions of things to see and do along the way. The colors of the water around Long Island are mesmerizing, such beautiful shades of blue. The deserted sandbars are breathtaking. Marvin and Brandon took us to some fantastic snorkeling spots including a plane wreck and an area that was like snorkeling in an aquarium. The coral was very healthy and abundant with fish and sea life. We collected Conch along the way and were treated to a delicious conch ceviche when we arrived back at the dock. Other highlights included feeding the pigs, "Marvinite" (ask Marvin about it), and meeting Oreo the goat. Marvin and Brandon always had our safety at the top of the list. There were so many other things we got to see and do, but these are just a few. Marvin and Brandon thank you for creating such wonderful memories that we will cherish for a lifetime.
What are you waiting for, book the trip! We can't wait to go back!

Captain Marvin is great! This was the first time my wife and I have been out in the Bahamas and because of Captain Marvin we will have a day we'll never forget. Our day started off at 10 AM and we got back at 730 PM. Capt. Marvin ensures that his guests have an excellent time and see all the spots they wish. We didn't really have spots we wanted to go to so Capt. Marvin created a tour that was customizable as the day went. We did impromptu lobstering and spearfishing. Snorkelled with Capt. Marvin and hunted for sand dollars. We also swam around with the pigs and had great conversations for hours. Capt. Marvin has such a wide breadth of knowledge for the surroundings and his experience will definitely have us coming back and suggesting to any one who will listen to charter his services. Thank you Captain for an unforgettable day! We hope to see you again soon, possibly for the Regatta.

We booked an all day boat tour with Marvin and it was outstanding. I love that he tailors his tours to what you want to do and doesn't just follow the same route every day. We were able to see the pigs, which he and the other tour operators take care of. The island they've built for the pigs is really nice and impressive. We snorkeled a few times, learned some island history, and accidentally stopped for a brief fishing trip even though it wasn't in the original plan. Marvin's conch salad and rum punch are so delicious. Of course eating/drinking it in the water near a sand bar is unbeatable for atmosphere. Our trip was so much fun the entire 6+ hours. We couldn't recommend using Marvin as a captain and guide more. Just book with him!! Do it now!

You will not find a better captain on Long Island! Marvin is one of the most genuine people out family has ever had the pleasure of meeting and becoming friends with. He knowledge of the waters on Long Island is impeccable. His ability to catch fish amazing. We have been out several times with Marvin and have NEVER been disappointed! We learned to spear fish, snorkel for crawfish, deep sea drop fish, starfish finding, turtle watching, and so much more. From catching conch to finding the most beautiful beaches untouched by most humans this is your guide! By the time you leave his boat you will feel like you gained a new member of your family. He truly is an amazing person that loves his job and is great at what he does! Marvin thanks for another great trip we will see you soon! The Garno’s

Not only can captain Marvin put you on the fish but, he educates you on the process every step of the way. He shared so many amazing facts, points, and interesting tidbits about the fish, the ocean, and the Bahamas.
Make sure you try spearfishing. First time I had the opportunity and it was an absolute blast. Speared several snapper and a trigger fish.
If you catch a blackfin tuna like we did, make sure to have him prepare it sashimi style as soon as you get back to the dock. The pepper dipping sauce was absolutely amazing.

The boat trip Marvin took us on was amazing. It was one of our best memories from our stay. He is such a nice guy and since he grew up on Long Island he is able to share a lot about the island with you as well. He is an excellent boat captain and all around good guy. We are so happy that we took the eco trip with him; seeing the pigs, experiencing sand bars in the middle of the ocean, all the sea life, and an amazing snorkeling trip. Great trip, great company. Even our moody pre teen enjoyed the trip and he is great with kids.

We went out with Marvin for a day. We told him what we wanted to do ad he accommodated it all. From snorkelling plane wrecks, to wandering deserted sand bars we did it all. Prior to the trip the communication was consistent and friendly. We brought back some conch and had Ken at the dock make conch salad. Marvin told us to come by for a night of karaoke at a local pub later that week, which we did! Hands down the best captain, safe and more than competent and a better day than we could have expected. Highly recommend for families, couples and those not comfortable on water (like me). If and when we come back we will absolutely be going out with Marvin again.

Hi we r 6 adults considering coming april 2021 if there is a vaccine by then. We have traveled a lot but never heard of Long Island. Saw it on hgtv. Was wondering about prices as we do many excursions for boating n snorkeling. We like private all day as well as semi private. Appreciate any info as we r very in knowledgeable about this island. We loved the clear waters of exuma but island didn’t have much restaurant action. Tiki bars n native cooking that sort of thing. Thank you pauly

HGTV did not do the island justice. It's probably more rustic than Exuma (haven't been), but that's part of the charm. You definitely need a car, preferably with 4WD because there are so many amazing beaches to see. There is only one road and it's not in great shape. Then you take the side roads to get to most beaches, though some can hardly qualify as real roads (hence the 4WD). The island is not at all commercial. There are some great restaurants and bars on the water and some fantastic roadside places. Keep in mind that you'll need to drive home so that could affect your alcohol intake. The roads are super dark at night and it's hard to see the many potholes. It's not a place where you stay up partying til 2 am unless if you stay at one of the places with an on-site bar like Tiny's. Lodging is very reasonable if you do Airbnb or a villa rental, but the few resorts there are more $. They are also at the north end of the island and you would have to drive pretty far to get to places like Dean's Blue Hole. We visited the resorts, swam, ate, drank etc. They are really nice but better only if you don't intend to do much exploring. The lee side has much calmer water so factor that into where you stay too. We will be staying at Lochabar Beach for our 2nd trip because it's gorgeous and we didn't get to explore all of the southern part of the island the last time. Big V boat trip was $400 or $500 for private tour. I was a little disappointed in some of the snorkeling because the coral is so bleached, but snorkeling in the blue holes was really cool. Since LI is so remote it pays to do a lot of research. I'm happy to answer any questions.
