It’s another monument. It’s very touristy. It’s not easy to get to without car or a rented van.
Can be day trip out of Udon Thani.

Similarly to many South East Asian waterside cities - Singapore the Merlion, Songkla the green naga - Nakon Phanom has a particularly fine gilded, seven-headed naga as its signature monument spurting water and clearly respected by the populace. Lots of photos opportunities here too by day or by night

This is the attraction that draws millions of Thais to come to visit this N-E province of Thailand. The Naga (mythical serpent-like being) is situated near the river bank of Mekong.

It’s located at the center of this main town. Good to be here in the evening, sunset at Khong River was nice. And it’s not far to walk to night weekend market.

Of course, all through Thailand my favorite statues were of the Naga protecting the contemplating Budddha. It is big and impressive and the people obviously hold it in high esteem. There was dancing and religious ceremonies going on when I was there and would not doubt if that happened often. Just down the road is a beautiful Wat and Stupa. I walked to the hospital from my hotel at night to get on the back of a motorcycle to see the Naga statue and the Wat in the dark. Beautiful!

unlike many attractions in Thailand that you will see a lot of garbage and street vendor. Here very clean, tidy, and well organized.
Local people said this place is very sacret ...and many people wish were granted.

The Naga is believe as sacred creature that lives in Mekong river. I do enjoy running along the river as a whole though. There is not much of thing to do during the day since it's very hot. Do come around the evening where vendor comes and set up their stalls.
