Situated within the Chateau de Vizille, the museum presents events from the end of the Ancien Regime until the beginning of the Third Republic as seen through the eyes of artists, some favorable, some against the revolution.

... but don't take your kids. They don't really like those little creatures. Behaving really well, but walking on their bare feet and giggling a bit about the genitals on display: "You have to be dressed to visit the museum."

interesting visit the inside of the castle is no longer furnished but we had the opportunity to visit while there were events around with people dressed like during the french revolution

Great castle, museum and grounds - all free too ! Not allowed to take bikes in the park :-( Have to leave bags at desk on the way in :-( Fed fish n birds with bread from the shop in the square. Otherwise all good.

The audio guides were very helpful in sorting out the French Revolution history for us. The grounds are beautiful as well.

inside the castle. There are many levels and the visit begin in a hall with artifacts, swords and other items connected to the revolution. the paintings present in the upper rooms are beautiful and follow the logical thread of the historical sequence of events
