I went here with my wife in late October, just before the snow came the following weekend. The drive from Albertville is about 50minutes, steep for the last 20minutes after Beaufort town, but well worth it. The whole dam (barrage) is a beautiful colour and...More

Others have sufficiently lauded the beauty of the setting and the excellent opportunities for hiking, cycling, and biking. But the dam itself is also worth viewing. Because the dam is of an unusual length of about 800 meters, it was constructed in the rarely used...More

We've cycled up here 3 prior years but returned again starting from Areches to complete the loop over Col du Pré. We stopped for lunch at l'Etoile dès Neiges after riding up and back from the Cormet du Roselend to make it a perfect day....More

Drive up was lovely. Road was windy and steep but not narrow. Views over lake were great. Some parking but not a huge amount. Road got busy later in day.

Worth diverting from the main road at the top of the Col de Meraillet, or pausing on your way to the Col du Pre.

We rode our bikes to the dam around 7 in the morning - everyone in our group agreed that it was one of the more beautiful sites they had seen!

Starting point of many walks, hikes and trail runs. As good in summer as for winter activities. À true wonder and corner of paradize. Only accessible by foot in the winter as the roads are covered by snow, giving the place even more peace.

I discovered the Cormet de Roselend and the nearby lake during a motorcycle trip. Having reached Bourg-Saint-Maurice from the Iseran Pass, my riding buddy and I were still in the market for twisties. We figured the D902 to Beaufort would fill the bill nicely and...More
