For garden enthusiasts who love to chat about plants. Mr and Mrs Tan are a bit eccentric and love to show their collection of medicinal / culinary herbs and flowers. Lots of things you won't see in Malaysian lowlands. Messy and kinda charming in a very grown-in way. This is very different from the tacky touristy locations in Cameron Highlands. Next to the entrance of Jungle Trail 10. Unfortunate that a government housing project is causing havoc nearby. A rare and more personal experience here. Visit before it's too late.

Bulldozers shoveled the garden. The poor owners trying to rescue what they can . And tripadvisor as usual lagging behind in providing up to date information.
Alike the turtle sanctuary etc.

The garden have so much varieties / types of Camellia and with the recent development ... half is gone now. The passion and long years of effort will soon be diminish. As explain by Mr. Tan some of the plants here are the only one in Asia. I have seen many and indeed the collection here are the best and still yield flowers. If you are visiting Cameron Highland thus is a MUST visit .. in time to come it may just be another victim of modernization.

This garden is currently not kept because the area is under construction. If you’re going to hike trail 10, you have to walk through it anyways. The landscaping is quite nice and you can tell at one point someone put a lot of love into it. However currently it is pretty much non existent so don’t expect much.

Land has been reclaimed for housing. When you see the signboard, look slightly right for small path that leads you into a messy looking garden.
Some camellia, vegetables and herbs, lots of anthurium.
Mrs Tan sells plants to recover the cost of running this garden.
Admission is free.

Mrs. Tan brought us through the garden and passionately described the herbs that she grows. Some have medicinal properties. She shared her vast knowledge of these plants. We are sad to hear that due to a PRIMA 1 housing development, a good part of the garden would be destroyed as land has been acquired for development. Husband had tried to apply for the land.but application was refused. Now, other than their half acre lot around their house, it could be forever lost to development.

Its not just a garden - its coupled with Mrs. Tan's pleasant hospitality and discussions on all the plants and flowers she has, their origins etc. Just a wonderfull escape when you are tired from everything else and want to do a relaxing walk in the garden, see all kinds of exotic and local plants and flowers. Special thanks to Mrs.Tan for taking us around and discussions.
Once you are there, you can either knock on Mrs. Tan's house or just look around and she will come out to greet you herself.

A small path surrounded by different flowers, trees and vines, which gave a very pleasant feeling. It's like walking among a maintained mini forest. A short but enjoyable visit.

Its not easy to find the place without Google map or Waze. The place is so peaceful and you can hear the birds singing. I recommend people to visit in the morning as it often rains after 2pm at Cameron Highlands. Its about 20 minutes walk if you are walking from Tanah Rata main road from the Post Office.
The walk in the garden is so relaxing that I visit this place 2 times during my 4 days stay. I met Mr. and Mrs. Tan, elderly friendly couple. They have a wealth of knowlege on gardening and herbs.

The lady I heard a few months ago is still there but almost 40% if the plants are gone. Very unfortunate and sad.
