For garden enthusiasts who love to chat about plants. Mr and Mrs Tan are a bit eccentric and love to show their collection of medicinal / culinary herbs and flowers. Lots of things you won't see in Malaysian lowlands. Messy and kinda charming in a very grown-in way. This is very different from the tacky touristy locations in Cameron Highlands. Next to the entrance of Jungle Trail 10. Unfortunate that a government housing project is causing havoc nearby. A rare and more personal experience here. Visit before it's too late.

Tan's Camellia Garden is tucked away from view and easily missed if it wasn't for the signboard along the main road. To get there from Tanah Rata town, head in the direction of Ringlet and upon exiting Tanah Rata town, you will see a an apartment block on the right. Turn off to the main road to the right and proceed on the road that will bring you alongside the apartment. Tan's Camellia Garden is located at the end of the road.
The owner was very friendly and did not hesitate to greet us warmly. We engaged in some light conversation and before long, she was taking us on a tour around her garden and took the time to explain the herbal benefits of some of the plants she grew. All this and without charging any entrance fee like the other greedy farms around in Cameron Highlands.

Decided to visit it as I'm into plants and gardening. The garden looked quite wild and being in the evening near sunset, there were lots of big mosquitoes. Saw more anthuriums than camellias and post some photos here. Chatted with Mrs.Tan. Thankfully, husband and wife will get to stay on in the future although the garden may be reduced in size.

If you are coming from Ringlet, it is on your left before you reach the Convent school. It is just behind Oly Apartment in Tanah Rata. It is owned by the Tan's. This man is very passionate about his plants. It is a hidden gem in Camerons which you should not miss. It looks like a jungle outside but inside you will find the beauty.

A peaceful little haven in sharp contrast to the mostly poor quality commercial tourist ventures or poorly maintained natural attractions in Cameron Highlands. This is a garden to be enjoyed by those with a strong interest in gardening.
So generous of the owner to share the garden with the public free of charge. Thank you.

We stumbled upon a blog on the net with great reviews about the place. We were on our way back downhills when my wife saw the signboard and decided to pay a visit since we still got plenty of times to spent. When we arrived at the front gate, we saw no other cars in front, but still we enter with curiosity. And boy,did we surprised ourselves! Mrs. Tan came and greet us warmly, showing us around, proudly explaining about various camellia breeds she have in the garden, almost 300 species! The garden is huge, everywhere we look, we will see different kind of flowers and plants. But the garden is a bit unkept, coz its only her and her husband around. Its perfectly ok to us coz she didnt charge any entrance fees, the plants are really cheap since the whole garden is her labor of love and it really shows! She is really warm and chatty and they got a cute cat too! Dont mind the dogs tho, theyre kept in a cage. They have lived in the area for more than 20 years without a grant of the land and now they need to vacant the land coz development is coming. Hopefully she will survive coz we definitely will come back again!

Unlike the usual strawberry farm or cactus house, this is a flower and herb garden. Tan's Camellia Garden is run by Mr Tan, a very passionate man for his work. This place is not so commercialized like other attractions in Cameron Highlands. No entrance fee is required.
He planted more than a hundred types of anthuriums here. Almost every anthurium is different from the other. He has also camellias here. Well, talk to him. He has a lot to share about his work and researches. He told us how he crossed breed the anthurium. Besides, he also introduced to us the ashitaba, a kind of valuable herb that has vitamin B12 and a lot of health benefits. We definitely learned a lot from him.
If you are interested in gardening, you can get potted ashitaba, anthurium and other plants from him.

Basically this is private garden of Mrs. Tan. She knows some knowledge about the herbs or medicine plant. After talking to her, my parents bought a few plant from her. Some of it is for eye caring or control your high blood pressure. She is really good and friendly lady. If you like to grown herbs sure you love here.

Bulldozers shoveled the garden. The poor owners trying to rescue what they can . And tripadvisor as usual lagging behind in providing up to date information.
Alike the turtle sanctuary etc.

Hi, Mr. Tan, Is this still open here?

The lady I heard a few months ago is still there but almost 40% if the plants are gone. Very unfortunate and sad.
