Spud Wood has only been in existence for maybe 30 years and it is incredible what can develop in that time. Owned by The Woodland Trust, this is a tranquil area and a great place for responsible dog owners.

Great for walking plus pets dogs etc But no parking so you have to park either near the bridge water canal or Warrington lane

Spud Wood is a nice place to enjoy a walk. The car park is only small so most people park their cars on the lane nearby. Well worth a visit.

This is a great place for a family walk. It is an easy walk, mostly flat. There are some great rope swings dotted around which the kids loved. Would be great for bikes as lots of mud ramps etc.

My wife and I are both qualified advanced ramblers by order of the European Rambling Association is this is one of our favourite places to visit both day and night, simply because of the many activities hosted at Spud Wood.

Last Tuesday night the wife and I took a lovely night walk through the wood and we bumped into the ladies and gents from the local Satan worshipping club. These guys are nothing to worry about, unless your partner is female blonde virgin(RIP Jenny) lol. They are a friendly bunch who mainly just try and curse you and summon Satan. I keep telling them though, he's busy right now what with Covid-19 and preparing for the winter, he probably doesn't have the time for Spud Wood. But bless them, they keep on trying. It would be nice if he met his fans once in a while.

Then we went for another evening stroll on the Thursday. This time there appeared to be a movie set on site. The chaps had all the equipment, a shotgun and ski masks whilst filming on a state of the art camera. The young girl was running through the woods screaming "THIS ISN'T A MOVIE" well, I couldn't contain my excitement and started to laugh to which she replied "STOP LAUGHING THEY'RE GOING TO KILL ME". What an absolutely dedicated actress. We did have to inform the chaps though that we were not seeking stardom and that we were mere qualified advanced ramblers. Jolly good evening.

On the Saturday night we wanted to get a bit of training in for the 2 mile marathon on the Sunday so we headed back down to Spud Wood, armed with a flask and our rambling boots, off we went.

To our surprised, when we got there, there appeared to be a classic car show of sorts. There was old Sierra motor cars and I think they were the kind you see in the movies because the suspension was going up and down, like the car was rocking. All the windows were steamed up as well and loads of the males were gathered round to see this suspension in action.

They must have had catering on site as my wife was approached by a young chap and asked us if we would like a sandwich but I had to interject as my wife is futon intolerant. He then offered up a spit roast but we had just finished off a salad earlier.

Unfortunately the evening came to end when a young lady must have tripped getting out of her vehicle as her trousers slipped off and her posterior was fully wedged out of the back window. We went to help the poor lady but a group of the men went over to assist her. We phoned an ambulance and left.

It's a great place to visit with friends and family. The wife and I will be taking the grandkids next week to see the car show again.

Lovely walk, lots of different paths to follow through the woods and it's also next to the canal. Theres a few picnic benches and seats around the woods and also a small car park here too.

Lovely walk through the wood today with our dogs. Social distancing made easy with wide paths and open spaces. Other dog walkers take heed. PUT YOUR DOG POO TO IN THE BINS I picked up 20 poo bags from other dog walkers today and deposited them in the bin! Why spoil a beautiful place with your rubbish??!

A nice wood and walk not far from the canal. It would be nice though if ALL dog owners cleared their dog’s mess. Please don’t leave the poo bags on the floor or hanging in the trees. Volunteers keep the wood in good condition.

We've lived in Lymm for 20 years and had our first walk around Spud Wood last weekend. We normally walk around the dam or go to Dunham Massey (for the scones :) ) but thought we'd have a change. Apart from falling backwards in the mud whilst trying to jump a stream we had a very nice walk. Note to self, next time my husband says, "Just put your foot there, it's perfectly stable", just ignore him....
Anyway, I agree with Mary F about it changing its name to Dog Poo Wood. We were appalled by the number of dog poo bags littering the place. They were left on the floor and on picnic benches. Whilst it's not nice to see dog poo on the floor and obviously people can stand in it, surely it's not good for the environment to be dropping these little plastic bags everywhere. I don't have a dog so maybe they're biodegradable in less than 100 years, I don't know.
Anyhow, we did have a nice walk but I won't be in a rush to go back given there are much nicer walks near by.

Makes a nice stroll, although better in summer (a tad muddy on the paths after a lot of rain). We did see squirrels, which is nice in the winter.
