This is in central La Paz and along the water. Across the streets are places to shop, eat, or just relax with a beer or cocktail. It is a long street of walkway, but it is kept clean and easy to manage in an afternoon. You can sit and read or think along the way as well.

La Paz, Baja, Mexico isn't the hottest destination for American tourists, but if you want a working city on a crystal clear Sea of Cortez filled with whales and dolphins, and some of the best seafood in Baja, you won't mind the general disrepair of the sidewalks. Mermaid sculptures on the Malecon make up for the rough spots. As a... More

This is the heart of La Paz, the waterfront. People are always there, riding bikes, walking, running, enjoying being by the sea. There are statues along the way, and restaurants along the other side of the road. In the evening, families congregate. Festivals are held here. We walked every day for a week. The pelicans and other seabirds are also... More

The Malecon is together with everyday's sunshine for us the main reason to visit La Paz, capital of Baja California, Mexico: it is about 6 kilometers long.

Families, couples, teens, grandparents, locals and tourists - everybody comes to the Malecón to stroll, ride bikes, have an ice cream or a meal, watch the sunset and sailboats, check out the larger than life sculptures, or just sit on a bench and people watch. No pressure, no rushing, relax and enjoy. It's the big friendly heart of La Paz.... More

nice, scenic drive of the waterfront in La Paz; take a stroll and don't miss the ice cream shop with the tree in front, painted white with polka dots......Yum!

Nice place to walk in the evening or on days when it is not that warm. The view is nice but not spectacular . Eat an ice cream and sit or walk and enjoy your holiday .

Lovely ocean walk through town with ice cream, restaurants, bars, shopping and people watching. Lots of photo opportunities and statues. La Paz was very clean and felt safe walking around.

We were only in La Paz for a day, but one of the highlights of the old town was the waterfront. No stopping, nice sculptures along the way, and lots of places to stop for ice cream or beer directly across the street. Great sea views too.
