this is not a museum anymore, it has been turned into an art gallery and sometimes shows movies for free.

this is now Closed and no advice when it will reopen.It is a pity that they closed down. May need more info so when it does open there will be more people who can come.

The first time I went to Acapulco this was a very interesting mask museum, especially since I have several masks from all over Mexico. It turned into an art gallery a few years later and then into a kind of communal space, and then it closed. The Jaguar Restaurant bought most of their masks (or perhaps the businesses were somehow... According to staff at the fort, this little museum has been closed for several years! When we visited in January 2014, it no longer existed. Some parts of the collection are nicely displayed at the restaurant, EL Jaguar.

It's just outside the "Fuerte de San Diego", it's really easy to stop there for half an hour and admire this unique collection. It's a small place with a collection of masks that show the influence of different cultures of the region. Sometimes forgotten, the influence of African slaves who escaped from the Spaniards during colonial times is clearly recognized... More
