Fun stop in Manzanillo

It was fun to see so many iguanas in a close up setting. I wish the other animals had better accommodations. It was sad to see them in such small, dismal cages.

We took a taxi here from the Barceló. It was fun to watch the iguanas eating and doing their head bob. We spent about an hour here. My favorite were the Badgers, they were fun to watch. The taxi who dropped us off, told us the directions to easily walk to the main part of town near the giant Sailfish.... More

This is a truly Mexican place. It looks like someone's backyard is slowly becoming a zoo-like iguanario. I always take my visitors to view this place because it IS where to see the giant iguanas close up. They work on donations so it is not expensive. They may be a bit hard to find as at first glance the creek... More

We hopped on the #1 bus and it took us through El Centro, right to the Iguanario. Free admission - there are a couple of milk cans for donations, so please consider giving a few pesos to help keep this going. Yes there are a few other animals in smaller sized spaces, but I'm not going to weigh-in against animal... More

This place is a must see when visiting Manzanillo. Hundreds and hundreds of iguanas that congregate here. It is a very prehistoric experience.

A little difficult to find at first. When we did we really enjoyed it. Great for kids and photo opportunities. This location relies solely on donations to stay open. Please be generous.

If you are in Manzanillo, you gotta see the Iguanas! Take your kids. It's something you won't see again soon. I've never seen so many ginormous iguanas sitting in such close proximity in just a few trees. It was a sight to see.

Located through Manzanillo El Centro - the large old city and the largest seaport on the West Coast of Mexico - you will find iguanas both large and small "dripping" from the trees across the canal. Find the entrance and you will find a few other indigenous animals in a rustic zoo, piles of donated produce to feed the iguanas... More

So if you want to see lots and lots of these friendly lizards, this be the place to go. Its free and I guarantee you will never see a sight like this again. Just ask your cab driver to take you there.

This place is run by one man who has rescued 100s of iguanas. He has also started rescuing others, .ie.: Raccoons, Wild Boar, Coati, canaries, parrots, raptors, and two guinea pigs. He supports this place on his own money and cash and food donations; no public/government assistance. There are hundreds of iguanas, on the ground, in the trees, and everywhere... More
