Fun day trip

We had a fun time on this beautiful beach! Went kayaking and rode some horses, then had some good drinks at one of the many bars.

You must find time to spend a day here!! Half the local taxis don't know the term "stone island" FYI, so also know the real name Isla de las Piedras to get you to the water taxi. You DON'T need a paid tour, excursion, or anything structured to enjoy this place!! Just take a taxi to the water taxi, pay... More

A day in paradise in Stone Island. We took the local bus from our resort (Sabalo Centro) directly to the ferry terminal (10 pesos pp) and a 5 minutes water-taxi (30 pesos pp return) to Stone Island. It couldn't have been easier and cheaper (CAN $3.50 return for the whole trip!). Walked on the beach for a feel of the... More

For a few pesos, catch the little boat at the harbor for a 3-minute ride to Stone Island. A wide sandy beach with wonderful views. Fun rustic cafes with good seafood. When we were there in March, it felt like our own private place.

Although Stone Island is one of the only places to snorkel in Mazatlan, you do NOT need to take a tour to get there. It's not an island. It simply is on the other side of an inlet. Take a taxi. Much cheaper. The experience is great though.

When you visit Stone Island you experience the best laid back and relax time of your life. The food and the service in these two restaurants are the best. Be ready to relax and travel into the beautiful coconut groves and the white sandy beaches. A must when you are in Mazatlan

Stone Island is a world away from Mazatlan, even if it only takes 10 minutes to get there. On Stone Island the waters are much more protected, so you won't see the high waves that persist in the city. Although we heard the food here was splendid, we can't say that we found the same quality as the majority of... More

We took water taxi over to Stone island for the day. Very relaxing, not very crowded. Plenty of places to get food and drink. Lots of chairs and umbrellas.

This is a great place to visit. The boat ride is quite lovely and there are a lot of services to choose from. The beach is amazing! The sand is super thin and the ocean is super calm. You can go inside for long distances and still have the water at the knees. It's a bit cold, but still enjoyable.... More
