But I would recommend going before 9am because it will be warm! They are rebuilding the path up the hill so it's going to be really nice when it's finished. Keep to the trail, don't try to shortcut like we did (got into some horrible...More

A fair bit of a hike to get up to or take a Pulmonia. As with everywhere in Mazatlan there was some renovations going on but everything is supposed to be done by April. Stopped here quickly with the tour and managed to get a...More

For the past 15 years I have made it a point to climb El Faro at least twice a year. It is temporarily closed. There are many feral cats that we always provide water and food for. The cats have all relocated and are now...More

We got up extra early and took a pulmonia (open air taxi) to the entrance of this place, expecting to hike up and view the sunrise, only to find it was closed for repairs. This must be a relatively recent thing, as our hotel and...More

Walking up the lighthouse can be very challenging for a person who does not do any exercise like me, but have done it twice early in the morning and loved the experience... it is said that this is the tallest natural lighthouse in the world!...More

This is one of those must do things while you are in Mazatlan. Make sure you are in good physical condition and bring lots of water. There is a back and forth road you can walk up, or you can take shortcuts up the rock....More

The lighthouse itself wasn't what I was expecting. I thought it would be a traditional lighthouse, but it wasn't. I was disappointed about that. However, I highly recommend the experience. Go early in the morning, though, as there isn't any shade on the way up...More

If you're in Mazatlán and you don't visit this place, you're out! But you need to be there right before the sunset, you will have the best view of town and sunset at the same place! Plus, you will exercise your legs ;)

I love hiking up to El Faro. However, if you have limited physical ability or very small children I would not recommend this hike.

A great walk/hike up to the lighthouse. The first portion is a rough road that has been eroded. The last portion is 334 steps up to a beautiful viewpoint. Wear good shoes and pack some water. A great way to see Mazatlan!

By the way....The hike up is along Olas Altas as the pathway is definitely closed for a while yet as well. Probably same March timeframe for the trail as well.....

Not sure what the physical address is. It is just known as the lighthouse or el Faro. Relatively cheap to taxi from golden zone hotels to it. From what I remember was less than 8$
