Walking up the lighthouse can be very challenging for a person who does not do any exercise like me, but have done it twice early in the morning and loved the experience... it is said that this is the tallest natural lighthouse in the world!...More

This is one of those must do things while you are in Mazatlan. Make sure you are in good physical condition and bring lots of water. There is a back and forth road you can walk up, or you can take shortcuts up the rock....More

The lighthouse itself wasn't what I was expecting. I thought it would be a traditional lighthouse, but it wasn't. I was disappointed about that. However, I highly recommend the experience. Go early in the morning, though, as there isn't any shade on the way up...More

If you're in Mazatlán and you don't visit this place, you're out! But you need to be there right before the sunset, you will have the best view of town and sunset at the same place! Plus, you will exercise your legs ;)

I love hiking up to El Faro. However, if you have limited physical ability or very small children I would not recommend this hike.

A great walk/hike up to the lighthouse. The first portion is a rough road that has been eroded. The last portion is 334 steps up to a beautiful viewpoint. Wear good shoes and pack some water. A great way to see Mazatlan!

We hiked this little.hill to the top to see the lightjouse. Many people were running up and down the hill. I would not do that. Some areas had no railings and if uou fell you fall right over the side. It is steep in many...More

We recently visited Mazatlan on a cruise ship, and after our morning tour, we had 3.5 hours before the ship departed, so we decided to climb to the El Faro lighthouse at the top of Cerro del Creston (Creston Hill). It's pretty close to the...More

I enjoy getting a good hike in, from my apartment, this hike is 3.5 miles round trip, so it is short, but there is decent elevation gain as you climb the hill to the lighthouse. The trail is well worn, and there are some 330...More

The trail to the lighthouse begins with a rocky, dirt path. After that, there are 300+ concrete steps. Views along the way, and especially at the top, are fantastic. Take water and go during the cooler part of the day.

I always say yes. Make it fun. You will take extra breaks along the way. Bring electrolit(beverage sold at pharmacy and oxxo) and water and snacks for a picnic. Steep it is. Early hours are best. Leave hotel at 7am... More

There are no organized tours because not many people go there. Each time I've walked up I have seen less than 10 people. Double the amount of water you think you'll need. The humidity is usually pretty high. If you're... More
