As usual in Mexico is not always easy to have info from web sites, so we first went to the MUSEUM de la mina la valenciana, thinking it was also the place to go underground to actually visit the mine, but it was not. The...More

Our tour was lead by a former miner and his tale was extraordinary. At times it was difficult to hear/understand what was being said. My kids don't speak enough Spanish to have enjoyed this tour and as such I wouldn't recommend it for kids.

Kids, teens, and adults will enjoy this history lesson about the Spanish conquest as well as the Spanish Inquisition that lasted for centuries and reached the Americas. Prices are accessible and as always negotiable.

The tour starts almost immediately when you pay and pass the taquilla. There was a vendor selling snacks. I bought a small torta because I was hungry. The guide explains the history of the mine by first explaining the saint that was supposed to look...More

The backstory of this mine is that it had flooded and was abandoned. When the Count took it over, he promised that if he was successful, he would build a temple (he was, and he did). The overall complex is interesting with some dioramas of...More
