This was the main purpose of our trip to Mexico. A pilgrimage to see the tilma of Juan Diego, to see the image of the Blessed Mother, to see the place where it all happened, the rich history... Two days here is not enough if you were to visit each and every historic spot of the Shrine. Added bonus if... More

The first time I went to this place of pilgrimage in 2102, was on the insistence of a friend. I have since been there almost every year and I now organise pilgrimages to this shrine for people from our community. Of course the whole of Mexico city is a sight to behold. I can not find words to express my... More

A most sacred site for Mexico and to a lesser extent South America in general. Few tourists when we visited so easy to view the "sacred apron". Conveyor belts keep you moving and this is necessary as the guide said up to 60,000 pilgrims per hours seek to view the apron in peak times.

This is a place you must go see. The church itself is beautiful, there is so much detail in the building. The grounds were bigger than I expected. Just remember this is a place of worship, so please be respectful. The site is an amazing blend of faith & history.

This complex is a bit like an amusement park nowadays, but there are still some interesting facts. The unintended lean of the churches defies gravity, and the gardens are pleasant to view. The main cathedral's modern style contrast nicely with the older structures. Be prepared for large crowds on weekends.

If visiting Mexico City I encourage you to see Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine. Make the effort to climb the steps to enter the old chapel built on the original location that Mary appeared to Juan Diego. What must it have been like for Juan to have experienced this blessed woman arranging roses in winter in his humble 'tilma'? Followed... More

I am not Catholic but I still enjoyed the beautiful gardens behind the main church (Basilica) and the history of the location. The original church is a sight to see if you are willing to climb the hill.

Interesting place to visit to see churches built in different centuries. Little else to see though. The kids got bored pretty quickly.
