If you are interested in anthropological or archaeological perspective of Mexico, make sure you scheduled a whole day here for its great collection. Great archaeological collection which provides a general picture of the pre-Colombian era in the corner of the world. The 2nd floor are ethnographic collections, which represent the connection between native people and modern influences. My friends and... More

This is a beautiful museum, if you don't have much time and doubt if you should go or not, at least invest 1 hour and have the pleasure to see the "sun stone" you won't regret it

Amazing museum, beautiful designed, does an excellent job telling the stories of the many mesoamerican groups. You can spend hours here. We did this first before visiting Teotihuacan and Templo Mayor to get help set the stage for those visits.

Both building and its contents is worth visiting: the building was inaugurated in 1964 and was quite ahead of its time (every time I go I am amazed on how beautiful and functional it is)... the central esplanade lets you decide which room you may visit, so you can organize yourself according to your interests and your time availability. The Museum, aside from being beautiful and peaceful per-se, has the perfect mix of pieces to transport you to each and every one of the regions of Mexico. The Aztec Calendar and Moctezuma's feathered headpiece, as well as the walk-in replica of Pakal's tomb will blow you away. Mexican splendor gallore.
