If been there only for seeing the building, which is made of cedar from Canada. The rest of the business is only for hardcore catholics which belief in this things. The place crowded and very outside of the city in "La Villa" and for me did not pay the way.

The old Cathedral is a must see. Not only is it amazing from an architecture and grandness view, the fact that it is leaning--sinking makes the structure of the building worth seeing. I found the old Cathedral more interesting than the leaning tower in Pisa. I didn't care too much for the new Cathedral. Our guide said the new Cathedral... More

Great religious site. Especially for catholics, great area to visit, ample space to enjoy and easy access.

We are not catholic, and this is a big attraction in the religion. Not for us, it seemed a long 2 hours, and frankly not so impressive.

Recommended to go on a Saturday morning, very lively, take care of your $$$ and enjoy the ride. Mass is every hour at the hour, lots of devotes in there and pretty nice ambiance. Recommended.

from the outside the new cathedral looks like a sport stadium but inside it is absolutely stunning.A wonderful work of Mexican architecture that feels very spiritual. The Old Cathedral next to it is beautiful but the floor is very uneven due to damage after the earthquake. There is also a beautiful garden and a mechanic clock which is very interesting.

As soon as you walk in the Basílica, you will feel a special force all over your body, a sense of tranquility, That place, in spite of being full of people most of the times is so peaceful. The new Basilica houses the original tilma (or cloak) of Juan Diego, which holds the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. One... More

The complex is a must see! we visited on a Sunday morning, where pilgrims from nearby towns and villages had poured in with their beautiful costumes and flags, flowers etc. Nearby market is great for buying mementos, gifts and eating real Mexican food.

The whole poing of visiting "La Villa" as it is called in Mexico, is visiting the Virgin of Guadalupe. If you are devout, it's an emotional experience, the Virgin is beautiful. And the faitful's devotion is truly amazing. If you're not devout, it's really not worth it, for it's very out of the way and takes time to reach. Try... More
