The market has a wide array of authentic food options. I ate at a few, getting only one item at each spot. Enjoy very low prices for high quality food (chicken soup for 2 USD, tamale mole for 2 USD, etc). There are also many...More

Great place to try a variety of Oaxacan food. I wasn't super impressed with some of the Mole I tried. I do however agree with other travelers that the grilled meat area was the most fun and delicious.

This is a place mostly for locals, although a lot of stalls clearly cater to tourists. Several stalls offer traditional food and drink from Oaxaca, and the prices, especially for things like local chilies and chocolates, can't be beat.

Ok, I understand when people do not want their photo taken. I was trying to take a photo of the chipulines, grasshoppers, and the lady did not want me to take it. I was not taking her photo, just the basket. After that, I wanted...More

This is basically a typical Mexican market that has a mass of food stalls in addition to everything else. My personal favorite was Maria Teresa! Nothing fancy, just real food. Tamales...mmm...
