En Via is a non-profit microfinance organization working to fight poverty around Oaxaca, and to educate travelers about the power of microfinance by connecting them with local women either through visits to their towns, or through our volunteer program teaching free English classes to women and children. On the visits, travelers meet women who are applying for micro-loans to start or expand their small businesses, from making tortillas to weaving beautiful rugs, to selling flowers in the local market. Participants hear about the women's lives and projects, and what they plan to do with their loans. At the end of the day, the profits from the tours fund En Via's micro-loan and education programs.

I am normally not a fan of organized tours but everyone needs to do this one! This amazing organization provides micro loans to women and ensures their success. We visited with 6 women with a wide variety of businesses. We had an amazing lunch at one woman's restaurant, dessert from another's mobile snack shack and then learned about the garlic,... More

The most amazing day speaking to such inspirational people in communities. Would recommend to anyone for a heart-warming experience. You get to see the incredible impact the micro finance loans make to local people, this money is taken from ticket price and the vast majority is put into the community. Got to try home made cuisine and see skilled families... More

This was the third En Via tour I have taken and they have all been excellent. You get to meet local women and hear about their income-producing projects. Meanwhile the cost of your tour enables En Via to give the loans. I can't recommend this highly enough!

The tour was excellent. Knowledgeable tour guides, interesting visits to several towns and meeting with the people the program is helping. Tour length was good, takes most of the day. It is not strenuous so people with mobility issues could probably be accommodated quite easily. Maybe the best 7 hours you will spend in Oaxaca.

The most interesting tour and rewarding thing I did in Mexico! Microcredit as a tool to fight poverty! The EN VIA FUNDATION based in Oaxaca, helps indigenous women realize their small business ventures! The loan funding comes from the tours themselves;( the money one pays for a tour goes directly into an interest free loan for these women; a very... More

Funcacion EnVia's tour has a double purpose: it raises money for the foundation and also shows tourists the difference the foundation makes in the lives of the recipients. Part of every tour ticket goes directly into the fund, which gives small loans to women who have specific business proposals in their village. Along with the loan comes business training and... My girlfriend and I joined the tour on our second day in Oaxaca. I found both Susan and Mariana (plus Nancy and Tanja) to be very knowledgeable and passionate about the En Via project. I also enjoyed the information given by Susan and the translation from Mariana, when we visited four women and their businesses. All the women in the... More

A highlight to our recent trip to Oaxaca, the En Via tour provided an insight into the lives of women living in the villages outside of Oaxaca. Our 850 pesos covered our day which was spent meeting 5 women enterprenurs & artisans and learning about their lives and the challenges they encounter in their jobs. Our two En Via guides... More

Kudos to En Via for its efforts to encourage women's entrepreneurship and enable them to succeed. Amazing what a $75 starter loan can do. Our trip to the villages and meeting with the women was fun and informative. We loved the interaction and mutual respect among the En Via volunteers and their grantees.

My wife and I spent the afternoon touring villages and visiting village entrepreneurs and artisans who have received micro loans from En Via. Terrific experience. It's inspiring to see people making a difference in their lives with these small loans. You also get a nice lunch and an opportunity to appreciate and buy some wonderful carpets and other crafts. This... More
