We did the half day ride. I'm experienced and wife is ultra beginner. We both had a blast. Guide was outstanding and horses are well taken care of, docile and beautiful. We saw much of the Oaxaca countryside, learned a lot about the flora and fauna and ride long enough to be sore! We will be back!

Great idea for couples or families to escape the city and enjoy the countryside. Or guide was knowledgeable and friendly, and the horses were great characters. Highly recommend!

Our horses are active partners on the rides. We have fourteen horses and each one is an individual. Horses are highly social beings, and ours respond to their rider, the other horses and even our dogs. They like to be talked to and have a considerable cognitive vocabulary that goes far beyond just Whoa! Thanks for coming out riding. More

What a wonderful and beautiful experience. One of the best activities of our whole trip to Oaxaca. I would definitely recommend this experience.

Went riding in the countryside outside the city. What a great day. They sent a taxi to pick us up at the hotel that delivered us right to the stables. They greeted us and gave us a brief introduction to their horses and what to expect on the ride. We mounted and off we went . We rode along a... More

We have an intertwining network of beautiful trails that meander through the protected communal lands and dedicated farmlands; this lets us mix up the riding routes and keeps things interesting for both the horses and the riders. We think the horses enjoy their jobs; horses love to explore and going out is what our horses' lives are all about. Do... More

This was great, was a ton of fun! Fantastic women – our guide, and the owner of the ranch. Beautiful scenery.

We do most of our day rides in the valley of Tlacolula. The altitude of the valley floor is 1,500 meters but the mountains that ring the valley reach 3,000 meters and THAT makes for beautiful scenery. Thank you for riding with us. More

We opted for the half day ride and we were pleasantly surprised by the horses, who have a wonderfully calm temperament; despite being novices, it felt very easy and intuitive. After a few hours, I got into the swing of things and forgot that I had been so daunted by riding. Great scenery and a change of different landscapes. Wish... More

It is expensive to keep happy and healthy trail ride horses. They wear imported wool pads between their backs and the saddles; these keep their backs cool and free of saddle sores. With this rocky terrain they are shod every six weeks, that is frequent but it keeps their hooves and joints healthy. Remember that unlike a bicycle, a horse... More

My husband and I opted for an overnight stay with two days of riding. Each day we did four hour rides. Both days were amazing. The guides that rode with us and the gentle, well trained horses made this trip so enjoyable for us that we felt like experienced riders. The accommodations were cozy and relaxing. The food was some... More

I joined a full-day ride as a solo traveler. The ride started at some ruins and went through the countryside. I can honestly say it was my favorite day of my trip to Oaxaca! I really appreciated the small group size and personal attention. Mary Jane was a great guide, not only helping with gentle riding tips and advice but... More

What is so fascinating about Oaxaca and especially in the Valle de Tlacolula were most of our day rides begin is how quickly the variety of flora changes. The Real Oaxaca ride highlights old-growth organ cacti that rise several stories high while the Ruins to Backcountry ride that you did takes riders past different species of candelabra cacti stout enough... I took the full day tour. I hadn't been on a horse in ~ 30 years. Mary Jane, the owner, was a patient instructor. Her horses are well behaved and conditioned. It is clear that Mary Jane works with them and their riders to keep her horses in such great shape and spirits. The ranch backs onto communal land, so... More

I hope you will come back to ride. We are developing an new multi-day ride south from the ranch through several valleys with mountain pass between that ends in an area not far from Sola de Vega to San Sebastian de las Grutas. You'd enjoy seeing this part of the state on horseback. Thank you again for coming out riding. More

I spent two wonderful days with Mary-Jane and her horses. The ranch itself is set in beautiful grounds with very comfortable lodgings. I particularly enjoyed the food, delicious local recipes with ingredients from the surrounding area. Mary Jane knows her horses inside and out, many of them having been born and raised on the ranch . She is able to... More

I love the ride across the valley to Dainzu. The fertile farmlands are a testimony to sustainable agriculture and to preserving their traditional methods - horse drawn carts and yoked plow oxen. You were a natural on horseback. It was a pleasure riding with you and hope you will come back! Thanks for taking the time to write this review. More
