It doesn't seem that big on the map, but they really pack this garden full of numerous gorgeous plants. There are some amazing fauna of Mexico here. Do opt for the 2 hour tour though, we did the 1 hour and it definitely could have been twice as long, it felt bit rushed. The (English) tour guide was a woman... More

Only guided tours available - but worth the effort to plan your day around. Choose from one or two hour tour. - If you can't make a tour, you can view much of the gardens from the Museum .

We went on a 2 hour tour of this diverse and very well planned botanical garden in Oaxaca City. The Garden director is very knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed every minute of it.

She talked endlessly about very few plants, so when half the time had passed, we had literally only moved 40 feet. So the rest of the tour was very hasty and that... More

We had an amazing guided tour at this garden. The grounds are impressive and the tours are a great introduction to the people and plants of Oaxaca

Even if you think you're not interested in visiting a botanical garden--go! The setting, next to Santo Domingo church, is lovely and peaceful and the guides give a. Ice tour.

It's hard to believe that the state government wanted to use th land where the garden is located into a car park to accompany a 5 star hotel and conference centre. That is just one of the challenges faced by Alejandro de Avila one of the Founders and Director of the gardens. It's more than just a botanical garden; it... More

We were in Oaxaca for the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) festivities at the end of October/early November. That is a great time to visit Oaxaca to experience the simple pleasures of parades in the streets, excellent food, including pan de muertos (special holiday bread), and galleries and museums. (Don't miss the English language tour at the... More
