Wherever I travel, I want to see archaeological discoveries. I go for the actual ruins first, and if there's time, to a museum displaying items found in the ruins. This museum is very rich in items of pottery, fragments of carvings, symbols, bones, ornaments, household...More

Since we were traveling with a baby we chose this museum for a short excursion rather than a day long trip to Chichan Itza. Lots of great artifacts and cultural background on Mayan civilization.

Very well organized (second floor) museum of history and artifacts from the Mayan culture. Learn about the indigenous arrival and living history in Mexico and the regions further south. While most of the display plaques are written in english, some are translated to english (but...More

There are two parts to this museum. The indoor museum on the upper floor gives a comprehensive account of the region and its history.

Visited this museum with my partner and loved it! There's a lovely, winding, shaded jungle path to stroll through and see various ruins. Lots of iguanas lounging about too. Inside the museum are many exhibits of Mayan art and artifacts: dishes, stone carvings, jewelry, drums,...More

Despite the big , modern buildings, this isn't that impressive and we didn't learn that much about Mayan culture from this. The 'ruins' in the garden area are not much to look at either

We would definitely recommend a visit to this museum for Mayan artifacts, see a wonderful film about the history of the Mayan culture and a jungle walk to actual ruins on the site itself. If you do not want to go on a tour to...More

Located on the hotelstrip. If you dont want to join the long exhausting excursions you have a good opportunity to get to know the maya-culture in this museum. On top of that you can visit a small maya settlement in the yard of the museum....More

Sorry, we do not know if there are guides or not. We do recall that English language signage has improved since the first year.
