Small but interesting museum laid out on top floor NOTE:-'there is an elevator up if the spiral, stair, case seems daunting Your ticket also allows a visit to an excavation that is adjacent to the museum. The museum is very near the Omni hotel toward the southern end of the hotel zone

They have some very interesting artifacts, but it is completely in Spanish - so if you don't read/speak Spanish, you'll not be able to read anything about it. Some neat artwork also. Both indoor and outdoor exhibits. Interesting/colourful artwork. Cannot bring water into museum.

I spent a couple of hours wandering around this museum and outdoor archeological site. A wonderful collection of Mayan pottery on display. Excellent exhibits, many signs only in Spainish as previously noted. Good overview of the Mayan culture through the centuries.

The museum was great. It was too hot to walk around the outside, but inside was air conditioned. Price to get in was reasonable. Not many places to set down and for an older couple it would have been nice to rest as it is a big area. Highly recommend

This visit was an exquisite collection of the history of the Mayan culture. We were in awe as to the preservation of the relics collected, centuries old still intact. One has to see to appreciate how this culture was so advanced for its time. Items displayed in great lighting. The pathway to the pyramid, beautifully surrounded by foliage lending a... More

This is a good way to see/learn what Cancun would have looked like before all the hotels and tourists arrived. Many people have complained about the lack of English ... though most of the individual items are only interpreted in Spanish - this is Mexico, after all :) - each section of displays has a piece that has been interpreted.... As others have noted the museum offers a lot in a relatively small facility, but could increase their audience by creating placards in additional languages. There was so much information available, much of it only in Spanish. The museum pieces were fascinating and we wished we knew more about them. Closed on Mondays - plan accordingly. It's unique to find... More

Conveniently located near the resort area, this site is half museum, half archeological site, so the perfect combination of old and new, indoor and outdoor. The building is absolutely beautiful architecturally and very well laid out. Neither area is too large, so not overwhelming for families with kids or those not looking to spend all day looking at historical artifacts.... More

A small beautiful museum worth the visit. Take an hour or 2 and get a feel for the Maya. Wander through a mini jungle.
