The cruise ship industry has been working very hard to capture as much of their passenger's money while ashore as possible. They promote their shore tours, many of which completely bypass town. They have built a make believe Mexican village inside the walls of the port and they are more than willing to say it might not be safe to... More

If you are looking for a quiet vacation spot then Cozumel could fit the bill. Most of the island is a national park with excellent beaches, reefs for diving and snorkelling. San Miguel has restaurants, and shopping but is not as extensive as playa del carmen or over areas. I enjoyed our week however after a few days our teen/adult... More

Mostly about the shopping, I actually got better deals at he resort. We had planned on spending the day and ended up leaving within a few hours. You cant go two feet without someone trying to sell you something

Great restaurants, shops, boasts the smallest Hard Rock Cafe in the world, but this trip we noticed a new one being built. Driving us a nightmare and watch out for inexperienced Vespa tourists

When you visit San Miguel, don't be afraid to go more than 2 blocks inland. You will get to see the real San Miguel and find lots of interesting places. Do not be afraid to walk down the streets. I walked around the city at night with my wife and son and never felt the least bit threatened.

We do a fair amount of traveling but enjoy returning to Cozumel. Increasingly, we are becoming familiar with the island and in particular, San Miguel. This time, we stayed within the city limits in a quiet residential neighborhood and enjoyed casual shopping, great restaurants, diving and cycling. San Miguel is friendly, quiet, casual, and a great destination.

It was just ok. Not my favorite thing. Way too many people, when then ferry docks from the mainland , the traffic is terrible, cars, taxis, mopeds and people everywhere. And its a big destination for cruise ship's. Most shop owners want to get you into their stores and then discuss the price/items. That's what they live off. Us the... More

We took a cab from the cruise port ($2 per person) to the central shopping area in San Miguel. The is shopping in the port (port shopping built by the cruise lines), but we decided to venture to see more local flavor. In one of the first shops we entered, I was offered a shot of tequila - which I... More

I don't remember it ever being as bad as it was on this trip last week and we've been coming to Cozumel for twenty-five years. I am not exaggerating in saying that you can't go fifteen steps without someone harassing you on "Do you need a car, come in and get your free gift, come look at my junk" and... More
