Fun to take a scooter and check out the south side of the island! Completely different feel than Playa Norte.

Billed as the first place in Mexico to see the sunrise each day, it doesn't disappoint in that regard. Pay the 30 Pesos or $3 USD to walk out to the Mayan Ruins. Unfortunately Hurricane Wilma did some major damage, so it doesn't look like much, but the history is worth the nominal cost.

this is a great place to get some beautiful coastline and ocean views on the island. There are some vendors selling things and you can sit and relax and people watch or have a meal at the restaurant there.

Very glad I made the journey to Punta Sur. Lovely walk amongst the sculptures, which I enjoyed however some of the metal sculptures are succumbing to the the salt sea air. Walking paths all around the point provide breathtaking views in every direction. Well worth the 60 pesos.

I really enjoyed riding a bike down from the centro to the Punta Sur, and the view was an incredible reward. Winding, well maintained paths down to the water and up again, lots of photo opportunities. The restaurant at the top was a great place (although expensive) to enjoy a cold drink before heading back. Some of the sculptures are... More

Enjoyed our visit to Punta Sur to see the sites. There are some small shops and a restaurant here. There is an sculpture garden. It has a beautiful view of the cliff and waves.

3 starts because there is a fee which I think is a little over the top. Other than that gorgeous place.

We went to visit the goddess Ixchel. It has some beautiful views and a Mayan temple (although a little small due to weather effected). Worth a visit if you like culture.
