We rent a golf cart, but you can also get there in a cab. There is a restaurant and a sculpture park at the tip with fantastic views of Cancun and the Hotel Zone.
This small park has a wide walking path throughout, leading through some interesting art sculptures and around an old Mayan ruin. It has a few signs here and there, but most of the learning can be done in the bigger building before the actual park....More
Some of the best views on this tiny little island are at Punta Sur. This is also the eastern most place in Mexico, so try to make it down for sunrise.

Sure the views are nice, but if you circle the island you'll find other places with great views that don't charge money ($3 usd) or have kitschy shops lined up. Mayan ruins are a basically a small pile of rubble.
