Richart Sowa built Joysxee, the Floating Bottle Island by himself, with over 150,000 plastic bottles. Shown on MTV Extreme Cribs and Ripley's Believe It or Not, the island that floats on bottles is an ecological masterpiece. Everything on the island was built with recycled materials from the three story house, to the out door bar. Come tour Joysxee and meet the incredible Richie, a real life Robinson Crusoe. An experience you can only find on Isla Mujeres.

Had a tour of this place by Richard a couple of years ago. I think he's charging 50 pesos for a tour. Well worth it for the story. An interesting person.

We did find it but it wasn't easy, finally asked two different taxi drivers. There is no sign, we saw it by walking out on the dock next door. It looks run down like no one lives there anymore. Wouldn't bother taking the time to find it and it will take time.

We have visited this "island every year since it was on the ocean and later moved to this bay. This year the grounds were in total disrepair. There was junk from mend to the other. You used to be able to venture down to the shore to get a boat and a tour..this not so everything was a mess.Dont waste your time!

You have to pay to see this interesting Boat house that is made of plastic bottles. You just wonder how many of the bottles end up floating away when rough seas come. It a quick thing to check out. My husband wouldn't go see it with me. lol

Richart's story was so entertaining and captivating! His island and house was so much more beautiful than I expected. He is very passionate about the ecological benefits of his way of life. My husband and I wished we had taken his tour at the beginning of the week because we would have loved to invite him out for drinks and... More

I was so excited to visit this island that it look two wrong taxis and a final very long taxi ride to eventually arrive at the island. No one was there and you couldn't see much but still looked quite pretty!

This island is a must see! Richard asks that you visit him after 3pm as this is coolest and the time that he is most likely to be home. The island is fascinating and richard loves the company! He is such a friendly man and loves to see more british people. You can find the island a few minutes on... More

There was nobody here when we went to check it out. We would have loved to go out on it just for the experience. We rented a house just down the block and went a few days just to see if anyone was around but, no luck. Maybe next trip?
