I went with my son and his wife and two grandchildren who now live in Merida and we all agreed this was an exceptional experience. Our guide Juan was so enthusiastic about telling us all about the hacienda and the impact that henequen fibre had on the Yucatan economy. We saw the process from start to finish. After the tour... This historic plantation is a must see attraction for travelers in the Yucatan region of Mexico. The buildings and grounds have been meticulously restored to their historic grandeur when Mexico was a key supplier of this important resource. It is a step back in time when life was much simpler, and this tour provides an up close experience in the... More

This place has it all! Lots of history about the "green gold" better known as Henequen fiber which was the engine of the economy in the Yucatan Peninsula for almost a century... You will have the opportunity to visit a well preserved hacienda, get a tour on how the henequen ropes were produced and the cherry on the cake, you... More

Hear and see the story of the rise and fall of the sisal fiber rope making industry. The Hacienda is authentic and was one of many dozens that used to provide rope to the world until petrochemicals came along to replace this labor intensive process. Be sure to stay for lunch and swim in the Cenote. The Hacienda is about... More

Our group was visiting Uxmal from Merida in the morning and drove to Sotuta de Peon afterwards. We unfortunately missed both scheduled tour times. The later tour departs at 1pm. We could not take the tour and decided to still visit the grounds and the restaurant for a fee of 100 pesos per person applied to any drink order at... More

We visited this hacienda in November, 2016 and had an incredible experience. It is a refurbished, functional example of the way life was during the grand hacienda heyday in the late 1800's in Mexico. They had us tour the main house where the family Peon would have lived when the hacienda was built. The family was so wealthy from the... More

This is an Hacienda were “henequén” is still being processed. They have guided tours for visitors, in which they show the facilities and tell you about the Hacienda´s history and the henequén. You can visit the hacienda and pay for the whole tour or only enjoy Yucatan´s food buffet at the restaurant. I stop by for lunch. The buffet is... More

Our family very much enjoyed our visit to the Hacienda! Juan, our guide, did the tour in both English and Spanish to accommodate the multinational group. The tour was comprehensive and interesting to my young children, 6 and 9, as well as the adults! We learned a bunch about the Yucatán's rich history. It ended with a little time to... More

Interesting take on local history, very educational, but got a bit boring for me. A swim in the beautiful cenote was great and easily the highlight of the trip. The margaritas at the cenote were a nice touch while we were waiting in the hammocks for the others. Service was good everywhere. Entrance may seem a bit pricey and it... More
