Probably one of the better cenotes you will find in Yucatan as far as clean, well lit non wild cenotes. The tour of the factory is average just as the restaurant but once you get to cenote it's well worth the trip. Entrance fee a bit steep considering for what it is but they did a lot to maintain that... More

This was an interesting, but crowded tour. The guide spoke some English, which helped. It was interesting to see how rope was made and the history of the hacienda, which was quite large and one of the few remaining, working hacienda's around. I understand why others found it laughable, but for a glimpse into the past workings of a hacienda, whee... More

We puchased tickets with a driver. He picked us up at the Gran Plaza Mall in Merida, MX. Drove us to the Hacienda. We then had time to take pictures of the Hacienda before the tour started. We had a wonderful Bi-lingual tour guide, Juan, he explained everything about the hacienda and the working of the henequén factory. We took... More

Excellent guided tour which gives visitors a glimpse of the sisal hacienda world. A real living museum. Excellent guide. Interactive tour. Well worth a détour.

This is such a bad tour that you want to laugh at it. The tour groups are very large. Maybe 70 people. The guide uses a microphone that has a lot of feedback. She switches between English and Spanish. She translates about 1 in 10 sentences to English. But her accent and the microphone feedback is so poor that you... More

You will ride on mule-drawn carts through the grounds of this beautiful property, visit a victorian ranch house, and watch a demonstration of the processing of henecan into sisal twin and ropes. The tour ends with a visit to the private cenote for a swim in its crystal clear water. Quite a bargain for about $30US

The Yucatán haciendas were huge properties owned and run by wealthy people of Spanish extraction and powered by Mayan locals who were indentured servants. They were devoted to growing agave and turning it into sisal and esp twine and ropes. This particular hacienda is today a hotel and special events venue that also still produces sisal for its historical value.... More

We visited the Hacienda on Nov.25, 2016. Reserved the tour in Mérida with Turitransmerida, an excellent tour organizer. We left around 9:00 a.m.The Hacienda is about 40 minutes from Merida. We had a great guide who was fluent in English and French. The hacienda is the best example of a living farm operation I've seen so far. The cultivation of... More

The Hacienda is about 50 minutes outside of Merida and gives a great view of a henequen plantation, which was the primary source of wealth in the region in the late 19th century. First you tour the plantation house, then the factory where the henequen fibers are harvested and dried, then you view how henequen rope is made, and finally... More

I went with my son and his wife and two grandchildren who now live in Merida and we all agreed this was an exceptional experience. Our guide Juan was so enthusiastic about telling us all about the hacienda and the impact that henequen fibre had on the Yucatan economy. We saw the process from start to finish. After the tour...
