Our family of 4 - parents a two adult children - really enjoyed our immersive Mexican cooking experience. We not only learned new recipes, and great preparation tips to some delicious dishes but also learned the history of some indigenous ingredients and tools. Kris was able to accommodate our needs for a private session too. Our self prepared dinner started with delicious guacamole, then cheese stuffed poblano chiles, roasted cactus salad, mole poblano with chicken and ended with a tres leches cake. The class really helped us overcome our fear of using previously unfamiliar chili peppers and mexican food items such as cactus.

An amazing experience! Kris knows her stuff - whether it be cooking or Mexican culinary history - and provides a plethora of tips and techniques for making healthy, tasty meals in a lovely setting. We loved our Mexican light class and recommend it to all who visit San Miguel!

Had a fantastic cooking class here learning all about the history of indigenous Mexican food and culture. It was very hands on, but relaxed and I felt at ease. We sat down to a beautiful meal including margaritas and chatted into the night. Recommend!

Four years ago, my husband and I attended Kris’s cooking school during our visit to San Miguel de Allende. We had so much fun that this year we decided to celebrate 3 family birthdays with a private family cooking class. It was so much fun and our teenage and preteen granddaughters participated in preparing everything from guacamole to the tres leche cake. And, of course, the best part was the feast we all experienced at the end of the day! Thank you, Kris!!

What I really appreciated about this experience was that it was more than a cooking class. We chose to do the market tour + Indigenous foods and it was a fabulous way to begin our stay in San Miguel. Kris began our time together engaging us with stories about the history of town, including anecdotes from her 30+ years as a resident. Her local knowledge made the market so much more interesting and meaningful than going through on our own. The cooking portion of the day was a lot of fun. She was very articulate about explaining the differences between traditional foods and "modern" Mexican cuisine as well as the techniques to prepare it. It was lovely to slow down and enjoy our meal together over lively conversation.

We were lucky enough to get a one-on-one cooking experience with Kris. Great Time, Great Education and Great Food. We do not speak Spanish so it was nice to have a person who could bridge the culture gap. Would do it all agin.

This was a trip highlight! We had a blast cooking the food and learning about the history of Mexican food. Kris is an amazing host and teacher and we left with our stomachs happily full. I can’t wait to make the recipes when I get back to the States!

The market tour was really informative sprinkled with history along the way. Kris’ kitchen is well supplied and fun to cook in. The recipes were delicious and different from what we had tried before. Kris is well organized and a joy to be around for a few hours.

The cooking class and market tour was the highlight of our stay. Not only do you learn how to prepare (and eat) local foods, but Kris is also a wealth of historical knowledge about the town and their food customs.
The whole day was fun and educational. Kris is a great teacher and guide. And by the way, we made from scratch with local ingredients the best salsa I’ve ever had. I would definitely do this again.
