This outdoor market had tens of shops selling excellent Mexican style clothes, handicrafts and souvenirs. The shop owners were friendly and very accommodating and were never pushy. Some good bargains to be got here though most prices are fairly fixed. It was also never too crowded so very comfortable to walk around. Try the local ice cream which included a mezcal... More

Since I live in Southern California, I've seen these types of markets in Tijuana and Olvera Street in L.A. Walking the aisles reminded me of them but with much more in the way of Talavera offerings since this is the city renowned for this particular ceramic style. Good spot to get those quick easy items to take back to family.

A nice place to walk around. Lots of handmade crafts and paintings for sale. Also nearly every stand or shop sells local sweets!

Mercado el Parain is a nice little market just a few blocks from the zocalo. A lot of typical tourist souvenir items with perhaps a bit of authentic art and craft items. The restaurants are pretty good and are priced more reasonable than those around the zocalo.

It doesn't seem like they like to negotiate too much. Prices are decent but about average when compared to other markets. Would recommend checking it out, they have tons of stuff.

This market is full of different crafts and traditional candy. If you are looking for a cheap souvenirs you will find many options here. However, if you are looking to buy high quality and real traditional pieces, I recommend you go directly to the ceramic workshops. The pieces here are colorful but doesnt compare to the real ones, which are... More

I was here on the weekend and then again during the week. I was just passing through on both occasions and the experiences were vastly different. I would recommend avoiding this area on the weekend when it is miserably crowded if a weekday is an option. The items that were for sale were kitschy and touristy. I bought a magnet... More

This is a nice place to walk around, but don't go here if you are looking to buy high quality crafts. As it happens, this targets mostly to tourist and it has sadly loss a bit of its charm. Since it is right in the city center it is a fun space to walk around
