About
Sekumpul Waterfall is touted as the most beautiful waterfall in Bali. It is fairly close to Niagara Falls Lemukih, only about 2 km away. Understandably, the Village and Village Lemukih Sekumpul indeed neighbors. To see Sekumpul Waterfall close, it takes a bit of effort and struggle. From the parking lot, you have to walk quite far away, down a dirt road, down the hundreds of stairs, and across the river. When you ride a motorcycle, you can still ride from the parking lot (near the ticket window), to the end of the road paving. After paving the way out, the road turned into a narrow dirt road (footpath). Not long down the path, you arrived at a blank bale (gazebo) with Niagara Falls Sekumpul incredible lure.

- peachesandcreamWest Sussex, United Kingdom111 contributionsBeautiful walk and swimBeautiful natural place to visit, we done the medium length walk with a personal guide. His knowledge was amazing pointing out the various trees and plants growing. Walking down involved about 40o steps our guide informed us, but we paused for photos and he carried my bag. Steps were pretty uneven and when at the bottom we had to walk through shallow rocky waters to reach to pool. Once again our guide surprised us by giving my husband his flip flops as my husband had trainers. Plenty of time allowed for swimming in the beautiful cold clear waters. Before starting our climb back up. Once the steps had been climbed there was an option of taxi bike up the hills but I like a challenge and so walked. Once at the top we were treated to tea & coffee tasting all grown in the forest we had just walked through.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 September 2023
- Lance YuPasay, Philippines6 contributionsBeware of overpayingI paid 300k IDR per pax. I read here it shouldn't be like that if we just headed to the "final" parking place and not overpay for the so-called "guides". They're okay guides honestly, it's not a complete scam, but if I could pay half or even less the amount I paid for, I would do so in a heartbeat Thing is, it's hard to find where the most final parking is because there is no 4G signal as you're nearing the destination, so you can't search anymore, and the roads are starting to look narrower and narrower making it look like it's only for motorcycles. (A car would take up the whole road, which isn't bad, but not ideal) I suggest for the other reviewers to take a photo of the ticketing place or booth where everyone is supposed to go to for future travelers to avoid being scammed.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 October 2023

The cherry on top of the cake was our tour guide, Kadek. Kadek was nothing short of a gentleman and legend. He made us laugh and smile, took amazing photos for us and was an utter delight. We felt so strongly about our experience and time with him that we felt we couldn’t tip him enough. He even gifted us some delicious mango stems which we were not expecting. This whole experience has made my trip.Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 28 December 2023

We took a scooter from Ubud to the waterfall and was stopped by a “road block” of locals forcing us to take a guide as this is a “new regulation” . We did not mind however the prices were crazy at 300 000 rupia per person! So our taxi was 3 hours tothe place , crossing into parts of Bali not over run with tourist. Sekumpul itself when we arrived was a few modest looking huts where our car parked and the entrance fees. We took the medium walk at 160 k rupiah each . The longer walk involved a few more waterfalls …and an hour or so longer . To start they Also levied an optional motor bike ride down to the starting point . Otherwise that. Walk itself would hv taken us another 15 to 20 mins . Once we reach the lookout point , the entire raison d’etre was clear to us why we had decided to come . With blue Skies , clear air , all we could see the lush greenery with the two majestic waterfalls cascading down from the cliffs of verdant green , mountains picturesquely unfurling all around . So as we walked down towards the river base , on our way we spotted Indian tourist climbing back , breathless. - Jelena J1 contributionA gem without many touristA beautiful track with incredible views and a first-class swimming spot.my family got a medium-length route that took us to 2 waterfalls out of 3, which was enough. In addition, due to its remote location, there are not as many tourists. The absolute highlight was our guide, Putu, who was friendly, extremely helpful, knowledgeable of the area, and an amazing photographer as well. He took an already amazing experience to its absolute best. Highly recommend!Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 3 July 2024

This was the best experience so far in Bali!!!
We were quite dubitative because of the price, pretty expensive for a waterfall.. but there is always a guide that comes with you, our guide was really nice and took perfect photos for us. So you pay also a local person not only to see the waterfall.
I am so glad we decided to go all the way down, it was just wonderful. The waterfalls are so beautiful and impressive, we went for a swim and it started to rain it just made the hole moment magic ✨✨✨
I totally recommend you going even if it’s a little more expensive. The experience is worth it.

The walk to the falls took around 45 minutes. Quite steep in some places along with some very narrow paths and uneven steps. Not recommended for very young children or those with any physical injuries/disabilities that would hinder your ability to navigate the paths safely. Having said that you dont need to be super fit either. Our guide "John" was very attentive and kept us all safe during the walk, advising us how to safely navigate the walk. The scenery was magnificent and the waterfalls were spectacular. You can swim in them if you dare (the water is very cold). Definitely worth a visit.

Highly recommended. The waterfall is beautiful and one of the best in Bali. It is a fantastic photo opportunity for anyone looking to get some great pictures. Also we had a local guide for around 100,000, and he talked to us about the history of the Waterfall, and showed us how to get there safely. At the end we also bought some tea from the local village - it is delicious sugar-free and really helps support the locals keep doing what they’re doing.

We did an early morning dolphin tour with friendly Kadek lovina. We left before sunrise and Kadek brought some banana cakes (made by his wife) ans coffee and tea. Yes there are many other boats with the same purpose but where those are chasing the dolphins, Karta stays on a respectful distance from the animals. His words: "the dolphins like the more quiet waters". So in the end a lot of dolphins passed by our boat and we saw many!
After this we went snorkeling, coloured fish everywhere.
He charges the regular price.

1. Waterfalls: very beautiful! I have never been this close and in the water at such a high waterfall. It's a unique experience.
2. Tickets: In 2023 the prices rose compared to older posts. 125'000IDR for 2x waterfall tour and 200'000 for 3x waterfall. We took the 2x and it was absolutely sufficient.
PS: Yes, the trip is doable without a guide, by yourself. Signs everywhere. Not sure if allowed though...
3. Typical for the Balinese, they try to get the most money out of you: don't get scooter transport to the waterfall. It's only half way and otherwise a casual walk of 15-20mins.
There is a stop / kiosk where the scooter drivers try to pick up tourists for the "tiresome" walk back: that local lady sells coffee for 200k / 100gr. Are you serious? Starbucks is cheaper! BTW: if you have no price list, I'll haggle your socks off!
Rule of thumb on Bali: if smth isn't labeled with a price, they overcharge you by 200% at least. Don't be shy to haggle.
Ironic fact: when the "so-callled friendly" Balinese aren't successful in overcharging you, they get grumpy really fast...

We always try and do a new waterfall when in Bali. This one we were leaving Lovina and so we went out of Singaraja and up into the hills. Its a 125000rph each entry which gives you a guide and the money goes back to the village. They take you down most of the way on a back of a motorbike and then you make your way down the 385? steps to the river at the bottom. You will need to make your way through running water to some of the spots but the guide was fabulous helping up and showing us the best places to put your feet. You actually see 9 waterfalls in the area and all are stunning.Fiji Falls were my favourite where there are at least 5 falls into one pool.It started raining on our way out and going back up the stairs was a hard slog.I had to keep stopping and sitting on the stairs as the torrential rain soaked me through. The guide offered me his raincoat but wrapped up my bag in it instead as everything got soaked,I have never been so glad to get back to the top and had a hot cup of tea.I told him to just leave me and make his way back but he wouldnt(so he got a tip at the end).Good amount of fitness needed but well worth the effort.Ticked the box and very glad we did

Hi, is it possible to reach this waterfall with a 5 month old whom we will be carrying in a baby carrier or is the hike too risky with baby? Thanks in advance for your time.

It will be a tough journey as you need to carry up and down to reach the fall

If you are referring to the price of having the guide, then yes. That is the approximate cost.

Bonjour,
Est-ce que certains guides que nous sommes apparemment quasi obligé de prendre parlent français ?

Je l'ai fait sans prendre de guide et je suis une femme seule, ce n'est pas une obligation. Ils insistent pour gagner de l'argent mais inutile

How can you stop the locals forcing you and threatening you to hire a guide?
Written 2 April 2019
Difficult question. When I travelled both my guesthouse and driver told me that going on my own was not an option. Since I was travelling solo I just decided it was best for me to go with a guide, though I realized once I got there that the itinerary is pretty straight and you wouldn't actually need anybody to guide you. I saw 3 guys on their own at the Fiji Falls taking videos with a drone so I guess there is a way to get around the several guide huts and stops, but I wouldn't know where from.

Hallo zusammen,
Lisa
Hi,
We are thinking about going from Ubud to Sekumpul and then stay the night in Sekumpul.
What would you recommend - how to get to the entrance of the waterfall?
How much does this cost?
Where would you recommend us to stay the night (and leave the backpacks before starting the walk to the Sekumpul waterfalls)
I would really appreciate your help,
Regards,
Lisa

We have booked a one day tour with a private guide, so we have visited 2 temples, a market and the rice fields of Jaliwuti during this day for about 60€. The entrance to Waterfalls seems very expensive if you book a special guide to go until to the bottom of the waterfalls from the beginning of the path (about 15€). If you are good walkers, you do not need a guide, but the inhabitants try to make you sure you need him. If you go without a guide, you have to pay an entrance less expensive on the way to the falls. It is about 20 minutes to go down to the waterfalls, but 45 minutes to come back. And you need good shoes.
I have no idea of a place to stay for the night and to leave your backpacks.
Viele Grüsse aus Frankreich une eine gute Reise in Bali

If you partially fit, not much of a hiker would you recommend this? How is it coming up (gradient) and how long does it take you to come up?
Written 26 February 2019
Sorry for the delay, I see you received already quite a lot of comments. I confirm it is not a difficult hike. It takes approx 15 min to the first waterfall and another 15-20 min to the second one called Fiji. So total return 45 minutes but mind the 300 steep steps on the way back.
Written 15 March 2019
Yes you need to pay entrance to the village where the waterfall is situated , and if you want to see both waterfalls in the valley you have to pay twice because the 2nd waterfall is just in another village.
Written 12 November 2018
Hi all,
How long does it take on average to the falls and back?
cheers :)
Written 2 October 2018
About 3 hours, There are a lot of other waterfalls, it depends if you also want to see them
