This stave church is unique, with about 5 supporting cross beams on each side. We didn't get to visit inside the church (closed since beginning of September), its exterior itself is beautiful and interesting enough for us, especially when compared to the modern white color...More

I have a love of architectural history and this 14th century stave church has many elements to fascinate. The walls are highly painted in the traditional designs. There are many design elements that make this church unique. Definitely worth a stop!

We visited thismchirch on a recent cruise trip around the Atlantic road. It was a fine example of an old stave church and there was someone to tell you all about it's history. You can also seethe new church next to it to see comparisons

We were told to look for this type of church and glad we did. The guides were excellent and the history of the church fascinating.

Look for the sign for the stavkirche on the right side of Rt. 64 (traveling toward Kristiansund) as you approach Bruhagen. It's an enjoyable 9 km. drive along the fjord (notice the carved owls in a multi-limbed tree on your right). We visited near the...More

Worth a detour if you are in the area of the Atlantic Road. Its perhaps not the most spectacular stave church in Norway, but still well worth a visit. It sits on a headland, with wonderful views across the fiord. The inside is really interesting...More
