as the laguna is only like a 20 minhtes drive from the city, its worth it for sure. because of all pictures you first expect more, but for me it was incredible!! The water was glittery when we moved & it was an amazing moment!!

I liked the tour, we bought it in agency on main street. You go 25 min by bus, then take a small boat, and around one hour just watching beautiful views of mangroves and birds. Then you arrive to a spot, where is the ocean...More

Have dinner before getting on a boat and drive around the lagoon looking at birds, watch the sunset then as it gets dark see the plankton in the lagoon. On the way back fish fly at the boat, quite incredible.

I came to puerto escondido mostly for this attraction. I decided to enter one of the tour guide places to book my tour, instead of online. It was only $15usd per person! Totally worth this price. I suggest you to not book online. They pick...More

Came here with a group of 8 for 1/2 day - went around in a motorized boat and enjoyed the sights of many birds and monkeys. Visited a Mexican family living without electricity right on the lagoon for a fresh coconut refreshment, and finished the...More

Swimming in a warm lake with the luminescence effect is an amazing experience. It is UNIQUE and not to be missed. It is nice to know that the local community truly takes care of their environment consciously and in a sustainable manner.

Without exaggeration, one cannot describe the phenomenon of bio luminiscence. All I can say is that It is a must see and live. Undoubtedly it's worth the cost (about $350mxn) and the trip (25 min from Puerto Escondido)

We traveled from Huatulco by car for a very bumpy, long 3 hour ride to see the Laguna de Manialtepec - which was lovely and filled with gorgeous birds and the most beautiful sunset - with the goal to stay until after sunset to see...More

Nature lovers must visit this place, there's a natural fenomenon called bioluminescence that the plankton produces when touched/disturbed, but don't waste your time trying to take pictures because you need a special camera lens to do that, it's better to just enjoy a trippy swim....More

We went on a tour on a motorless boat through the lagoon guided by Margarito, aka El Hombre Serpiente, who we met at the beach in Zicatela. It turned out to be one of the greatest natural experiences of my life, we saw a variety...More

You can check the lunar calendar to see where your trip falls during the moon cycle. I can not recommend a bioluminescent tour when there is a lot of moonlight, but during the darker 1/2 of the month, others have said it is... More

To hire kayaks, no tour operators are needed, just take a collectivo or taxi to Puesta del Sol lodge/restaurant. Go early, it gets very hot in late morning.

We tried to go in December-just last month, but the algae wasn't lighting up yet. This is what we were told so we didn't go.
